New to wireless question

A buddy wants to setup a wireless networkfrom his house to garage. Distance is about 175 feet. Should we be fine using a Linksys wrt54g and a pci card?
 
It will work if there is direct line of sight between the Antenna.

I.e. If the Router is indoor with its native Anetnna, and so is the client, it might not work.

Jack no direct line of sight. router would be in the middle of the house and 2nd pc would be out in the garage. so we're talking aleast one inside wall and one outside wall at the house, 150 feet to garage with it's wall too. Any sugestions on what would be the best way to do this ?
