Hi all, i have an issue with ubuntu. I want to copy some files from my raspbian sd card.
I installed ubuntu into a virtual machine.

I mounted the sd card and copied the files and folders that i need to my Documents folder in ubuntu.
Now when i try to compress it, i get permission dienid errors because i am not the owner.

I did chown and chmod.
I even went as far and enabled the root account in ubuntu for more priviliges. but i still cannot get the damn file to compress.
It has root ownership and i am an administrator but it seems that is not enough.

Also, i follow all instructions to create a share but it does not pop up in ubuntu.
I installed samba and created a network shre folder in VMware but it does not work.

I can understand why so many people prefer windows over linux distributions.
Just copying a file from an sd card is a major operation.
In the near future i am going to start around playing with windows 10 IOT for my raspberry pi3, if it really is that much user friendly, i am dropping raspbian and unbuntu.

Well, i used a windows program called linux reader and that works just fine. No nonsense about not having the rights even while logged in as root.
Just reading the sdcard and copying all files that i need.

Now i can have fun again in the dependencies hell.

If i cannot solve it and the usual answers on the internet help as usual not at all, i throw in the towel and am going to have a look at visual studio community and Windows 10 IOT.

I once again understand why windows and Microsoft will always be king.

Edit:
I fully understand that i have to set flags and fix dependencies issues, jada jada jada. But what pisses me of is that there are so many "free" examples on how to do things in linux that are just plain wrong or do not explain the complete picture. Or howto guides that are outdated. As such examples such as getting a simple gtk window do not work.
