First of all I do not play online. LAN only. (56 bits/day modem :frown;)

Question 1. I've played many maps and have not seen any vehicles. Is this an online feature only.

2. How do I get the rocket launcher to lock on?

3. Why are some of the maps grayed out so I can not select them? Are these for online use only?

Thats all I can think of at the momment. Thanks.

1. There is no built-in support for bots to control vehicles.
2. It locks on to heat or turrets/sensors. You just hold the reticle over ther target and if you're in range/locked on heat it'll start keening
3. Dunno, I only play online.

So does that mean that LAN games with my buds are not capable of having vehicles?

That's what I though. How long do you have to keep them in your sites? and what is the range? I kept a bot in my sites for about 5 seconds and it still would not fire.

you have to buy vehicles at vehicle stations(they are usualy like round landing pads in look). Not all maps have them though.

Ugh offline play. You gotta at least try the best pinged server you can find else it's no fun. The bots are dumb!

1) No, just some maps have them. Dessicator, Archipelago, Slapdash, Sanctuary just to name a few.
2) Like said, it locks on to heat from guys jetpacking (that bar below the energy level is your heat), heat from vehicles (gaurunteed lock here), or turrets. If it's a turret or vehicle then put it in your sights and within a second or two it'll lock. The range is fairly far... not really sure how to describe it. It doesn't always hit though if the vehicle goes much too far away or a shrike plane can sometimes lose them if it's really fast. It doesn't really lock on to players that much unless they are just holding down their jetpack so their heat is very high. I don't use it for players much, I use it more for turrets or vehicles.
3) Guess so. I actually never knew the answer when I played single player a few times but I assumed that.

No, you can run certain scripts/mods that will let bots pilot. I think the mod is called BotPilot.

If you uncheck "enable bots" you'll be able to play all the maps. Some of the bot maps have vehicles, such as kabatic and sanctuary. I don't think the bots know how to attack them (at least with missles) cause I've never been taken out by a bot w/ a missle launcher (base turrents. yes). It's kinda like in Warcraft2, where the AI didn't know how to attack walls.

Yeah but unless you have some friends on it you wont be able to play with anybody...

And yes give the online a try, youd be surprised what Tribes 2 can do. Many people play on modems.
