i need answers to the following questions:

1. wut is the vcore voltage do.... and wut is the risk by increasing it???
2.wut is a 1/5 pci divider?
3. does the type of ram matter in my overclocking abillity?
4. wut is the max temp an athlon xp can run at?
5. wut are the different types of cores for the xp, and which are best to oc?
6. and is unlocking a chip safe and easy or can u ruin the chip??

Thanks

Might as well give a stab at a few of the questions, help the guy out.
1. Vcore measures the voltage going to the core of the cpu...normally by raising the vcore, you also raise the amount of heat being produced. With adequate cooling, normally the highest you want to take your vcore is 1.85v. People with more extreme cooling (water cooling and the like) normally can risk taking it up higher with voltage mods. You increase the vcore after you get to a point where your processor is no longer stable at that voltage when overclocking.
2. The 1/5 PCI divider is used for 166mhz FSB or above. The PCI spec is 33mhz, and normally at around say 36-38mhz, devices start crapping out on you. With the 1/4 divider, at 166mhz, your fsb is at a staggering 41mhz. Not a very good idea. Its actually a ratio on most motherboards. Normally its 4:2:1, 4 being divider for PCI, 2 being agp divider, and 1 being fsb, normally 133mhz. The 5:3:1 means that at 166mhz (which is one), 166 is divide by 5 to give u ur pci speed (33mhz~), AGP bus (~66mhz) and FSB (166mhz). These are perfectly good specs for the AGP and PCI buses.
3.The type of Ram does matter in overclocking. Anything around 150-160mhz memory settings should be alright with Crucial PC2100, anything above that look for PC2700 or above. Also, look for quality ram, because even though it says PC2700, if its crappy, it may not run at 166mhz tweaked out.
4. I don't like anything past the 60s myself, but anything in the 50s should be ok. At 60degrees, definitely look for some better cooling or risk ur processor not being around to much longer.
5. The best cores right now for the XP's are the AGOIA, AGOIA Y, and AROIA cores, which are all great overclockers. You can get the XP 1600+ AGOIA cores at Newegg.com or Nutrend.com for about 60$ shipped.
6. It's very rare that you ruin the chip by unlocking it (unless u have absolutely no hand eye coordination). Usually if you goof up, u can clean it off and try again.

Well, thats all the info i got, good luck

Yes, you want a 5:2:1 divider if you are going to be pushing the fsb up to 166. For good ram, go with Corsair XMS2700 or better, depending on how far you want to go with your o/c! :)

Thanks!

Depends on the board, depends on the board, and depends on the board ;) But in general, yes, 12.5-13.5, and yes. I think any AMD board with a 1/5 divider will let you change the multiplier, and obviously it'll let you set the fsb.

The divider parameters should be found in the bios, under CPU setup. With my KX7-333R mb, I have to set the CPU operating speed as "User Define" and then I can acces the option of Ratio (fsb: agp: pci ). My options there are 3:2:1, 4:2:1, and 5:2:1.
