The 07 Sierra Vmax is running the mud grapplers into the ground. I've moved out of the acreage and back into the city with the wife, so the highway miles have destroyed the muds significantly faster than I anticipated. I think it's time to salvage the TPMS from the Nitto's and apply them to a nice set of AT's that will last me 50,000+ miles (since I barely got 18k on the muds and don't feel like dropping $1500 in tires every 2-3 years).

Eyeballing a few different models - some General AT2's (http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...QR0GRAT2&vehicleSearch=false&fromCompare1=yes) and Kumho's Road Venture SAT KL61's (http://www.kumhousa.com/Tire.aspx?id=c205bde8-f7ff-4e90-82f1-4b22403cf2eb&cat=25), but I'm kind of open for anything that handles snow VERY well and will survive highway miles.

Size is always a problem, need 33x12.5r20's. Any additional recommendations? At this point I'm likely grabbing the Kumho's.

Here, I'll save us some time: Put the new ones on the back.

:awe:

Kumho tires look pretty decent. Out of curiosity, when was the last time you get an alignment? That might be contributing to tire wear. At a fraction of the cost of your tires I'd get one done just to be sure.

I rotate/balance/align and have the suspension checked every oil change, so every 6k or so. The Nitto Mud Grappler's are just very soft rubber, the roads tear them apart. It was great when I was driving 5 miles on dirt/mud every day to get to the highway from the acreage, but once we moved back into the city it was just an inconvenience all-around.

The General AT2s aren't great tires. They're good offroad because they're a lot more aggressive than every other AT tire, but they wear fast and get noisy. When they were $85 they were a good deal, but General raised the price to where they cost almost as much as the BFG AT KO.

Which btw is what you should buy

A preliminary google search defeats me, I cannot seem to find any carrier with 33x12.5r20 BFG T/A KO's.

I just got Firestone Destination A/T tires on my Trailblazer recently. They are reviewed pretty good from what I can see, dry, wet, and snow. I don't have any real experience with them in snow quite yet but they are supposed to do well.

i am very happy with my bridgestone dulers on my work truck, they are the 10ply higher load rated tires on an f350. they handle our snow and ice very well and do pretty good in the mud and gravel too. I have about 5k on them, 75% highway and 25% off road.
