Beta 3 *link fixed*

A new Beta version of Kerio Personal Firewall is out. I've had it loaded for a day now and...

1. Unistall version 2 before you install the beta.
2. You'll have to redo your entire permission list. Permissions seem to watch the registry also.
3. New look... Totally new look, doesn't even look like version 2.

That's about it, as far as I can see.

First off... bump for the Monday morning crowd.

This version seems much better at dealing with Internet Connection Sharing. One can specify which IP is "trusted" and which isn't. The rules can then be applied to either trusted or normal areas. Kerio 2 would only allow a gateway for ICS to be created but no control over information from that source.

Again... I like this new version.

Are the columns in the Configuration window sortable? This bugs me in the earlier versions, not being able to group rules together for the same program to conveniently see all the permissions I've it set for it.

I need to get more feedback about this version before I trash all my permissions.

I don't have the machine in front of me currently but be aware that in version 2 you can save your permissions list. If you want you can save a copy before trying the Beta version.

well... seeing that I don't have version 2 installed I'm not sure how to describe it to you.

Here's how I remember it (could be very wrong :))

-double click the applet in the lower right corner.
-Go to the third tab (maybe second?)
- in the middle of the tab should be a save and load button.

Hopefully that is correct.

If you set the your permissions in the popup window to allow aim to run IE, that should fix the freezing up.

This version is pretty nice. It monitors when one application tries to start another, like in your case, or even when something tries to open regedit. Looks like an excellent trojan defense!

lol, right click the icon and click advanced configuration... it even regulates itself (or at least... that's what they want you to think :)).
