Look folks, the SBV ads KILLED Kerry. Killed him. And he was too slow responding and his responses were ineffectual. It's like asking him if he's stopped beating his wife. Many people think the reports are true and that Kerry manufactured his medals. Instead of the Bush crowds staying at home, it's the Kerry fringe voters who will stay at home or vote for Bush. It's that small segment of swing voters who have to be appealed to and Bush's campaign is doing it with vigor and intelligence. You gotta' admire Karl Rove. The guy's a bloody genius to get that dufus Bush re-elected. He could probably get Moonbeam elected.... :) (but, Moonbeam is a genius)

Kerry is going to fall flat on his face and get completely creamed this election if he doesn't do an about face, and pronto. But, he doesn't have Howard Dean's fire, so I doubt he will change anything.

We'll see, but I'd say Kerry is in deep merde and headed for serious trouble.

Make way for Hillary in '08.

We shall see. I could still see this election breaking one way or the other (and if it breaks, I think it breaks toward a Bush win).

I tend to think you're right, though, and I think Kerry wins a close election. Nader has said publically he might ultimately steer his voters in swing states toward Kerry, and frankly I don't think there will be a statistically significant number of Nader voters in swing states anyway, so to some degree I think the polls that include Nader are a little misleading.

Kerry needs to fire his manager Marybeth Cahill (or whatever her name is), I just saw her on TV today and my God that lady has no fire, no passion, and no guts. I wish we had a Begala or a Carville on our ticket this year but unfortunately we don't.

This is not good news for Kerry that GWB is for the first time over 50%. I have not heard of the polling group SRBI before as their website is not accessible right now and Time doesn't mention them previously. I will take this poll at face value though, until I see other polling results. Zogby's interactive polls are garbage to me because he is using internet/email invitation-based polling. Newport of Gallup did mention that Carter was leading Reagan before Labor day so a lot can still happen.

btw I brought this up months ago. Deep down inside I honestly believe the DNC wants Hillary elected in 08 and put a stooge out there. SOmebody so liberal, such a flip-flopper, with such a bad voting record and post war record, and so against the military they knew he wouldnt get elected.

Knowing Hillary wasnt ready this term they felt in 08 with a non-incumbant running for office that would be the best time.

Just watching how the Dems have conducted themselves since Mid June makes you wonder.

1. Basically endorse Moore. A movie so full of holes if you support it you are made a joke of
2. Make Kerrys pillar of his campaign based his miltary service knowing full well there are more questions than answers.
3. Put on a lackluster DNC that couldnt probably get Bill Clinton elected.
4. Total lack of a punch back at the Swift Vote Vets. In fact they even ended up agreeing with them on a couple of points.
5. Kerry has been non-existent the last two weeks.
6. Run a campaign where all they can do is say "I am not Bush so vote for me". Campaigns based on hate and personal vendettas rarely succeeed.

Obviously this is a conspiracy theory but when you look at who they picked and how they are running his campaign. It doesnt seem so far off. 08 is a great time for them to get Hillary in. If Kerry gets in now they have to wait until 2012 and her fame may be dimished.

SudheerAnne:

You are absolutely astute, my man! She is SOOOOOOO nice. Good grief.....
I get an email from her about 4 times a week and it is so polite I'm nauseated.

The Republicans are playing hard ball with corked bats and the Dems have a team full of one handed players who must be smokin' some serious ganja!

Why don't the Dems just endorse Bush and get it over with?

Dean must be pulling his hair out....

Genx87:

Well, with friends and thinkers like that how would Hillary get elected?

I think the Democratic Party is suffering from a bad case of WIMPITIS. They've had their CUJONES removed, probably by a HEARTSURGEON who got lost in anatomy class.
:)

Anyway, this is so stupid and apparent to me and I'm just a dumb old jock with half a brain.

I would expect in 08 if Kerry doesnt get elected they will bring it on.

I remember the 00 election being much more aggressive by the democrats than this time. Except for the few 527 ads bashing Bush. I havent even seen many Kerry ads saying much of anything.

Oh well, I guess American still believe the stuff coming out of Bush's mouth after everything that's happened. Economy is slow and Bush says all is well. Death from terrorism is up , we have all kinds of alert, rediculous airport security checks and added laws that violated our freedom, and Bush says the nation is secured. Bush made all kinds of promises on how he is gonna improve American's future, while never mentioning the record deficits he put the country in, and how he's planning to finance all his promises with this deficits.

I guess if people can believe Saddam was somehow involved in 911, they will believe everything. So yeah, I guess the bouce isn't too surprising.

From what I hear there are two other polls out: one that show Kerry and Bush tied, and one that shows Bush up by two points. I'd be a little wary of the Time poll. Let's give this a week and see where things stand. Go look at the Washington Post today, big story on the lies and distortions of the RNC convention. Also, it looks like Kerry is on the offensive now, and his speech last night was ok, but his speeches today were pretty good. I'd suspect he's got a little work to do to get him back where things are tied, but it shouldn't take that long.

Interesting. The RNC attempted to shift the priority of issues and those efforts have appeared to work. Say what you want, the GOP campaign is one well-oiled, results-getting machine!*

On one show I was watching, they attributed Kerry's bad standing to not taking the time to apologize to the Vietnam vets for his actions after coming back from Vietnam.

Would it have been so hard for Kerry to do so?

What should he apologize for? He said what he believes.
