Iran is actually asking if they can help the US. They HATE the taliban. Id like to see them try taking on Iran and India.

I think you mean Pakistan instead of India? India doesn't border Afghanistan.

<< Wait is the Taliban the Afgh. government or...? >>

kind of. It has control over 90% of Afgh. A few countries recognize it.

Yeah I don't think they have much of a chance against pakistan and iran. I say if Iran is clean in this mess, sign 'em up!! We could use some better relations with them, not to mention their borders to put a few troups...;)

That was probably the biggest mistake they've made so far. Threatening an old and relatively stable state like the US is one thing, threatening an essentially authoritarian and new government that has NUCLEAR WEAPONS like Pakistan is a BIG mistake.

I doubt they would be so hesitant to use nuclear weapons as we are. (Actually I could be completely wrong about that, especially since Pakistan might be 'downwind' of any fallout).

India is close enough and they already pledged support for the US, as did Russia.

How much do you want to bet that the probable strikes against the Taliban will be very strategic in a way that not only targets bin laden and his resources but will ensure that the Taliban loses their current civil war? My only question is, is the other faction as radical or close to as radical as they are. If not, I'd put all my sheckles on it and expect a change in power soon.

[edit]
heck as long as they aren't more radical I have no doubts this will happen. Almost everyone hates the taliban and the US isn't going to blow this opportunity like they did when they didn't take saddam out of power.

Isn't that why the just assassinated the leader of the Northern Alliance? So that they wouldn't lose the civil war.
