New Taisol CGK760092 heatsink/fan review!

Dunno what you were looking at...looks like blowing for me. (Sucking = Alpha and so on...just to get the definition right).

Hanky, did you know that airflow always goes in the direction that does not have the sticker? Like if the sticker is facing you, the air sucks you in. 😉

Yucky,

well, ok, let's talk about stickers...
Most fans I know are blowing the air over the struts. The side with the struts usually has a sticker of the fan manufacturer (Papst, Y.S. Tech, whatever). If I face this sticker, the air would NOT suck me in. Then a lot of HSF manufacturers like Coolermaster, Taisol, Global Win and so on put their on sticker on the opposing side. If you face this sticker, the air would suck you in. I'm not sure though whether the Delta Black label fans have such a sticker by default (if I understood the text @ Inside Hardware correctly we are talking about such a fan here). The side we can see on this picture is the side without struts and if I look at the blades, this fan is exhausting air over the struts. Because we can't see the struts, that means the struts are directly over the top of the heatsink, I think the fan is blowing air onto the heatsink.

I am looking for a new HSF and might give it a try.

I wonder when these will be available and which store might get them in first?

Thanks...

looks like flow is pointing at me 😵

scdavis thats what he just said... it wouldnt suck him in (unless facing the sticker means not looking at it 😵)

well i've seen a lot of taisol fans and if you have the sticker side visible when on the heatsink .. it's blowing...so it looks like it's sucking in the pic..unless he ripped off the sticker 🙂

he's just missing the backside-delta sticker... he has it mounted to "blow" onto hte heatsink...

It was confusing to look at, at first 😉

Mike

All you need to do is to look at the blades and know whether the rotation is clockwise or counter-clockwise. As I remember, most fans (except Papst) rotate counter-clockwise.

how does this compare to the pep66t?
looking at the anandtech review of the socket a roundups...i think the pep66t is best...it's quiet ... and does a great job...and is kinda cheap...
don't know...does it really matter what kind of fan is on it? i remember putting a sunon on the cgk422 and it didn't make a diff from the stock...maybe it's me...

anyone know what a diff it would make if i lapped my cgk? it's kinda not smooth at all...
ugghh...

I think you should stick with your taisol. If you reread the review, you will see that the 742 with the ys tech fan was as quiet and cooled as well as the pep66t with a stock fan. It was quieter and only ran 1 degree hotter with its stock fan. The pep66t only beat it when equipped with a 38cfm delta. The pep66t cools better with a delta 38. What's new. The same could probably be said for the taisol 742.

I wish they would standardize these tests. How can you make comparisons when using different fans? Why test the hedgehog with only the delta38? Why not put the same fans on all the heatsinks so the buyer can make an informed decision?

hehe...thanks for the advice...i'm not going to change my hsf anyhow..did it too many times!

yeah they should really compare it with the same fans for the temperature readings...

i guess they'll learn...and the next test .. will be better... hopefully...

It's the same size as the previous one right (CGK742092 )? If so, I'm guessing it has the same problem fitting on the MSi mobo's?

Stickers have nothing to do with direction of rotation. For actual operation, neither does blade pitch. Most fans are designed to blow one direction, the direction toward which the blades are concave. Wiring determines the direction of rotation. Direction of rotation can be reversed by switching the wires.🙂 Most fans, centrifugal pumps, and clocks😉 are designed/wired to turn clockwise as is this delta fan.

BTW, that fans blows...😛😉

I emailed Taisol to find out when it would be available and this was the reply back for those interested in one.

Good morning,
CGK760092 will be available in 2 - 3 weeks. Please check out our web site at www.taisol.com as we will update it once CGK760092 becomes available.

Regards.

hmm..I think I'm alittle confused, I thought most hsf are set up to suck (like globalwin), sticker facing up will suck air from the HS, alpha's are setup to blow on the HS.. is this right?
