New TA IRC Record Set

Congrats guys, we've just set a new TA IRC record. 25 people are currently residing in TA IRC, the largest number ever! On top of that, we're the largest channel on World IRC by a good 13 people, making us the kings of World IRC. However, I still think the room is a bit empty. If you've got a space second, drop on by and see what's going on, we're allways up to something slightly short of psychotic.

If anyone needs to know how to get connected to #teamanandtech;



Download Mirc here and install it.

When you are done filling out your info, Add the server. Just click on the add button and fill in;


description= anandtech
IRCserver= irc.worldirc.org
Port(s)= 6667
and leave everything else open.

Now click the add button again.

Now. Go threw the list and pick anandtech and click "connect to irc server".
When you get connected. It will ask you what "channel" you want to join. Just close that and type "/join #teamanandtech" Without the " of course.
Whala... you are now in the team channel. Any other questions???

i cant get on it says something about a insecure winsock proxy installation. I have a proxy running. How do i get around this?

Thats a new one. Have you looked on the site to see if you could find a FAQ on the site?
They might have a better idea what could be causing that.

about the insecure proxy message..
it means that you are running proxy software that could allow other people to use your proxy to get access to an irc server and engage in illegal/abusive activities.
This all would then appear to come from your computer while it's just someone else relaying his connection through your computer to hide his location. To prevent this most irc servers deny access to people running this software.
Try it after shutting down the proxy software or use other proxy software.

I got the same message until I installed ZoneAlarm. Nothing else I tried worked except getting a firewall running.

Zone Labsif you want to try it. It's pretty painless

dennilfloss (aka Pimpacus of Borg) the "unable to resolve server error" means your mIRC client can't connect to the chosen IRC server. I had the same problem when I chose the server in Chicago. It cleared up when I chose the server in Grand Rapids. It does seem to take 60 - 120 seconds to connect though.

Funny thing is I do have Zonealarm running. I have to restart the client after I shut it down. Now it works fine. I restarted the proxy after i joined, hopefully it wont boot me while Im gone. I have a midterm in a few hours. Curse plant bio!!!
