New sysytem, please help!!

Just set up my system, it seems fine until I find that windows xp takes my 3540a as a floppy drive. Actually I dont have any floppy drive. I set the jumper of hard drive as master and nec 3540a as cable select, I dont have any other drives.
what's the problem here? please help! Thanks~~~

I changed the jumper in NEC 3540a to slave, the system still take it as a floppy disk. btw, I use two differnet ide cables to connect hard drive and dvd rom to 2 ide connector, is that ok?
