I have decided that I'm going to sell both my PC and Mac Mini to afford this new PC upgrade. Tell me how it looks: (BTW, I will be using my current case, moniter, sound card, and speakers)

CPU: A64 3800+
Motherboard: DFI LanParty SLI-DR
Memory: 2x1GB PC3200 Modules, latency 2-3-3-8
Vid Cards: 2x BFG 6800GT OC
HDD: Maxtor 250GB SATAII/NCQ w/ 16MB buffer
Optical Drive:plextor Dual-Layer DVD-RW SATA Drive
Keyboard/ Mouse: Logitech Cordless Desktop 3100

All for less than $2300!! Hows it look?

Wow, little overkill? 2gb of ram and 2x6800gt's ? But nice system, how are you getting such good prices?

If you love to spend money its awesome. Some cost cutting measures would be one 6800, and one GB of ram

Man, looks like you're spending a ton of money for stuff that doesn't perform that much better than other stuff tahts a little chaeper.

I agree, that's a lot of money spent for not THAT much of a performance increase over slightly cheaper hardware. But if you have the money, awesome. I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

*EDIT* If you have FarCry, run it with HDR and let us know what kinda frame rates you get with those two 6800GT's!

If I were you I would have gotten

-3500+ instead of 3800+
-Chaintec VNF4 instead of the DFI
-one 6800gt (I don't believe in SLI)

Anyway that's me,people are different.

blackinches agrees the sli really isn't worth it. but with that said it looks like a sweet system.

i see that your 2nd rig has the following specs:

A64 3400+
512MB RAM
6800GT

just upgrade your ram and you'll have an excellent gaming pc. there's no need to sell 2 computers just for 1 when the increase isn't substantial.

Well considering it is a performance increase of ~90$ and provides you with the absolute fastest system money can buy, i would say it is worth it; maybe not for you, but it is worth it.

Damn....Damn....Damn.... Just wondering - are you like super rich? The difference in speed between that 3800 and your 3400 is minimal. Why not wait for dual core cpu's and the new video card line. It seems like a waste of money but then again, it's your money.

Damn...

Damn..

I'd drop the memory to 1 GB, buy one video card, and buy a philips dvd-r without sata. Use the extra cash towards a bigger monitor (maybe a 23" LCD if you don't already have one). The monitor is always the most important component.

image quality / size is %90 of your computing experience. PSU is still #1 critical though, without that, you go nowhere.
