I think it's a nice system--I hope you have a nice display to take advantage of all that. Happy gaming.

How about dual 36gb Raptors? (RAID 0)

I suggest a solid 420W (active pfc) or 450W PSU

Actually, on second thought I would get a slightly beefier PSU depending on how the rails measure up. Consider a higher-end Enermax or one of the less expensive PCP&Cs [[er... guess not--you want 30A on the 12V rail for SLI, but the Silencer 470 has just 26]]. EDIT: OCZ's also a very worthwhile consideration.

Better power supply for sure. If there is such a thing as a cheap PCP&C then go for it. Otherwise I would go for an antec. I would go for the seagate drive over the toshiba and an NEC DVD burner (personal experiance) over the Toshiba as well.

I'd get the fortron blue storm. 500 watt and 24 pin connector which you'll need for that mobo.

Its about 100 bucks at the egg.

I thought the 3500+ was only in 130nm?

Two 6800gt's or 2 6600gt's?

You need more power for sure, don't spend over 2 grand on a PC and get a crap PSU.

I don't think PC4400 is necessary.... seems like you are dumping too much money into that RAM, get PC3500, that should do you good, and leave you room for the OC.

The NEC DVD-RW is the best one, and it is a lot cheaper.

Allright, I've revised it a little bit:

Motherboard: A8N-SLI Dlxe
CPU: Athlon 64 3200+ 90nm
Video Cards: 2x6800GTs
Memory: 1GB PC3200
Hard Drive: Maxtor 250 GB SATAII/NCQ 16MB
DVD Writer: NEC DL DVD writer
Case: still havent decided (help is welcome; not too expensive)
PSU: PC&P 510 SLI
Sound Card: Audigy 2 ZS Platinum

Hows it looking? It's up to $2263 with a $125 case, but that will probably change

EDIT: its down to PC3200. at this rate, tomorrow it'll go down to PC2100 :)

You could even drop to PC3200 even if overclocking--see Zebo's sticky in the CPU/OC forum. Get a regular SATA drive if the cost difference is significant between that and a SATA II.

a. Dropping it down to PC3200 will save about $40
b. the price differance isnt too signifigant, bragging rights more than justify it ;)

The only advantage of the Audigy 2 zs platinum is that it comes with the Live Drive thing. Other than that The card is EXACTLY the same as any other audigy 2 zs/zs gamer etc.
