NEW SYSTEM WONT START

I have just put together my first self-built pc:

CASE - Silverstone TJ09 Full Tower
PSU - Thermaltake Toughpower 750w
MOTHERBOARD = Gigabyte GA-N680SLI-DQ6 nVidia nForce 680i
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600, 2.4GHz
MEMORY - 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 800/1066mhz
VIDEO CARD - Gigabyte Geforce 8800GTS 320mb
OPTICAL DRIVE = ASUS DRW-1814BLT SATA 18x
HARD DISKS -
1x WESTERN DIGITAL Raptor 74GB SATA 10,000RPM 16MB
2x Western Digital Caviar 500GB 7200rpm SATA2

The problem is when I start the system, the cpu fan and PSU power up but there is no video. Nothing happens when i press reset and have to hold down the power button to shut down. If left alone the computer will sit there and idle all day

I thought it may have something to do with the CPU because i used A LOT of force to secure the heatsink on and shifted the thermal mat material around and tore it up a little.

The PSU has the main 12v connector hooked up to the mobo and a separate pci-e power cable hooked up to the graphics card. Also I noticed the keyboard/mouse don't power up at all


Any help would be appreciated!
 
Hi XLNUTS, nice system 😀 To start with, check and make sure you've got your ATX12V cable hooked up to the motherboard's 2 x 4 receptacle, which is located above the video card near the rear of the motherboard. Any good?
