Well I'd thought I'd surprise my dad for Fathers Day by updating his computer and just received all the parts from TD. Had to run out and pick up a ThermoTake 430W supple because his old system does not support this newer 939 system. I couldn't afford alot but ended getting these new pieces.

ThermoTake 430W PSU
MSI K8M890M2-V Via Socket 939 MicroATX Motherboard
AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ Socket 939 CPU
Arctic-Cooling Freezer Cooler
Corsair PC3200 DDR 400 1GB RAM
Sparkle GeForce 7300 GT 512MB PCIe
WD Cavier SE 250 SATA Drive

Just finished putting it all together and it does not want to start. The PSU fan runs, the CPU runs, of course the drives run but nothing on the monitor. THe keyboard quickly lights up but no screen. I'm pulling my hair out thinking the case wires are mixed up but the Power button does shut the tower off if I hold it in, the reset button does nothing, the hard drive light is glowing red constantly.

I have never had an issue in hte past with previous systems but I'm simply at a loss.

Any ideas.

Thank you.

MSI has a Basic Troubleshooting Guide, HERE Read NO POST section
should keep you busy.
also, seems as if your front panel led for harddrive connections are backwards....could be same for reset.
Good Luck....hope your Dad is happy with new machine.

Thank you for that, I had just found it. I'm retarded I forgot there was a CPU power supply wire to attach. This is actually my first build in sometime, my last build was a P3800 and there were no seperate CPU power wires, first time I've come across that. Once I connected the wire it went into POST.

I'm so sorry for posting such a newb question, feel like an idiot.

Tanks again.

Thanks Trashman. I am having one issue now that its up and running. It's as if the BIOS does not know how to boot the computer on reboot or coming out of the BIOS or pressing restart. When I restart from the OS, it doesn't reboot, same if I go into the BIOS and save settings, screen goes blank, hard drive stays on for a minute , then goes out and nothing, monitor goes into sleep mode and I actually have to press the reset button or power it completely from the power button. Didn't use the SATA drive, just reinstalled the 2 60GB IDE's and reformatted.

I will try to research the problem.
