Pretty nice not sold on the MOBO (I don't think SLI is worth it and is ASUS a good OCing board? )what was the total cost shipped?

Antec P180 - $122
SeaSonic 500 W PS $113
ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe MB (FINALLY FOUND one in stock that wasnt $300 bux) $236
Opteron 175 Retail HS/FAN $501
Mushkin 2GB XP4000 REDLINE DUAL PACK (2X1GB) $297
eVGA Geforce 7800GTX 256-P2-N527-AX Video Card $459
WD4000YR hard drive $219
NEC3550A DVD burner $40

Just under 2k shipped 🙂

Great system... You could buy an aftermarket heatsink, because my guess is you're going to overclock it... (seeing that nice RAM, CPU and mobo... 😉)

Should OC easily with the extras ASUS put on it. Ill see how it goes with stock HS which i hear is pretty good. Anyone any thoughts on how to OC, havent done that in years 🙂

nice! ^_^

i'm planning on a new system myself. already have the P180, a SP 2.0 500w PS and looking for that same mobo. only thing i'm not sure on is the CPU. do you know how fast can you clock that Opteron on a stock HSF or maybe use the CPU & VGA duct that comes with the P180?

With Stock HSF+AS5 my GF got 2.7GHz 64-bit stable, 2.8 GHz 32-bit stable with vCore 1.55

i hear people going up to 2.6 or 2.7 without much problem, that is what im asking for, need to know the process as i havent done inyears

forgive me for not being up to date with the acronyms, but what is an AS5 and GF that you mention?

good luck on your over clocks Vin. i'm not knowledgable when it comes to that. the most i can do is go into bios, select a % to overclock and leave the rest of the settings on auto. that's why i was wondering if using fans on the CPU + VGA duct included in the P180 would be sufficient cooling for a moderate over clock. (not sure if i should get a fan controller also )

Well, the first one is Arctic Silver 5... but the second one might be harder to find.

It's one of the best kept secrets out there among computer builders, and especially comptuer forum members. It's a "girlfriend"

Sexy rig m8! 😛

ya thats the plan, build another one in 2 years 🙂

will have to look at those links etc, i think i have some AS sitting around if not im sure i can grab that down at frys

oh my opteron 175 arrived, that HS fan looks impressive , best ive seen with a processor. I havent bought one in 2 years but still looks nice. Question, on the bottom of it is what looks like a grey thin pad. I assume this is some type of thermal material.. Should i just mount it to the processor using that, or get some ArticSilver and then mount, or should i scrape that off and then use Arctic Silver? or something else?
