System cannot make a bad song. They're too goddamn talented.

Too bad the lead singer is an assclown when it comes to foreign policy and feels everyone should see it his way.

So what, is he president? Who gives a shite what his foreign policy views are? I listen to him because I like his music, not because of his political opinions.

Well I keep up with the music scene by reading music news and such. Do I really care what he thinks?? No BUT when I am reading my news I see his lame ass announcements every week. It gets old hearing him rant about how bad the US is.

What i love about bands like SOAD, RATM, and such is the fact that they slander the USA so much, but that is exactly where they make all their money and they live. The irony is delicious :)

Don_Vito, i'm just curious how old you are?

32, though I am really not normally a fuddy-duddy about music. I was always a huge punk/hardcore fan, and spent most of high school going to live shows by Black Flag, Husker Du, the Minutemen, the Misfits, Samhain, Bad Brains, Die Kreuzen, D.O.A., Minor Threat, etc., when most of my classmates were into Madonna and Def Leppard. Now I would say Radiohead are my favorite band. I just don't think SOAD is music at all, much less good music, and their lyrics are so self-righteous and melodramatic that I want to toss my cookies. It's funny you mention RATM - even though I find their political bent more than a little silly, I think their music is hard-hitting and powerful. SOAD, on the other hand, are all bluster and have no punch at all to me.

Prison Song is pretty good I think. There are definately worse songs than that, as stated before.... the Pogo song and the Pizza Pie song :D

No, I don't think so at all. Radiohead's lyrics tend to be either abstract or tied closely to some particular emotion. They are, at least to me, essentially lyrical, whereas SOAD's read like something I would have scrawled in my notebook when I was in 9th grade. If I wanted a heavy-handed, inartfully-worded political manifesto, I would go to a Ralph Nader rally.

bah... System is just reinventing old arab and turkish music with an electric guitar. I heard their riffs growing up in my parents tapes. Same thing.

(I do admit though.... Spiders was pretty cool)

I guess they are showing their Armenian roots.

Well it?s not like we're going to say anything to change your mind, but the guitar work by Darron for such an eclectic type of metal is very good. If you actually sit down and listen to some of the changes and riffs he comes up with, they are good.

I don't really bother with the lyrics of SOAD. I get tired of political nonsense from people who make money off Americans, living in our country, but feel the need to trash "us" all the time. But the music is good and up-tempo in most cases.

There's really nothing that SOAD isn't doing that Dead Kennedy's didn?t do before them.

I think they're not all that great either, but then again, I like some stuff like Hammerfall and Helloween. I've only really recently got into any of that genre of music (last 6 months or so), but when I like something I really like it. To me, SOAD have nothing special compared to other bands, it's the same shouty "lyrics" and stupid guitars.

Heh, I thought it was "angry peppers" also. :)

I tire of SOAD VERY quickly - their music seems unrefined and "choppy" at times and gets on my nerves after listening to them for too long.
