Put together a new system, basics include:
Asus A8V Deluxe (2)
AMD 3500+ 939, 90nm
Raptor 78 SATA + two WD IDE drives
2x512 Kingston Hyperx 3200
OCZ 520W PS
The system has not been real stable to say the least. The Kingston is suppose to run at 2-3-2-6 but when I installed and left the bios on auto, it shows 2.5-3-3-7. When I manually reset it to the 2-3-2-6 the system will run fine IF its been on for awhile. Soon as I leave it off for a period of time, I have problems. Even bumped the V up to 2.7 and have the same problems with the settings.
Ran Memtest for 4 hours with no errors on the 2-3-2-6 settings.
Is this common that the HyperX will only run stable at 2.5-3-3-7, is this something to worry about or should I just leave the settings on auto. Thinking about returning it, as I hate to pay for something that doesnt perform as advertised.
As long as your reading, one other problem I can't figure out. With the three HD's I have the bios set with the sata as HD number 1 (and the only HD listed in the boot sequence), and the other IDE drives as numbers 2,3. When ever I have had a problem, the bios has changed the drive order and moved the SATA to the number three HD and removed it from the boot sequence. The sysem then tries to boot off one of the IDE drive (non-system drives), Any idea how the bios is switching these on its own?? and how to stop it.
Thanks for helping.
