New system just doesn't seem right!

I have a relatively new system and it really hasn't impressed me what-so-ever! Here are the spec's
Epox 8KHa+ w/ newest BIOS
XP1600
Leadtek 64MB ti200 w/21.83 det's
512 MB crucial DDr
Win2Kpro w/sp2
Nothing overclocked.

The only game I really play is UT. It really doesn't run that much better (if any) than my old Celeron 500MHz/Viper 770 ultra 32 MB system . Graphics just aren't as smooth as they should be. Gameplay is relatively choppy.
Anyone have any suggestions as to how I can narrow down what's going on?

Do you use w2k on the old machine aswell?

What else is there to check, the right version of the 4-in-1 drivers seems to fix a lot of problems.

Go to Planet Unreal and check out what some drivers people are using or patch your UT.
I would maybe experiment with different nVidia drivers. UT gains most of its speed with the faster cpu so you should have better results. What fps are you getting? I hear you can try running UT with GL now too, you might want to try that instead of Direct3d.

yes.

I haven't installed the 4-in-1's. Guess I could try. Is there any hard proof that it affects problems such as mine? I have heard it affect stability problems.

I have the latest patch for it.

How do I test fps in UT?

What is GL? You mean Open GL? I thought I read somewhere my video card wouldn't run Open GL?

100% guarantee that's your problem. Those drivers aren't optional with VIA chipsets. If I'm wrong, you get your money back 🙂

It won't run OpenGL with the "default" WinXP drivers for nVidia based video cards, but since you've upgraded to one of the later detonator's, you should have no problem running OpenGL now..
