the case and the psu are horrible. get the antec bqe2650 at newegg for about $65. its far superior then the crappy case and psu you chose (no offense). a quality 350w psu is FAR superior then a million watt allied one. you cant buy technology based on price only. psu's are very important. the only proper way to buy one is to look at the detail specs, such as teh 12v rail.

The allied is quality, but its cheap. I have an older 300W allied running one of my older Athlon XP rig fine with multiplie HD's and a Radeon 9700 fine. I have used several ALlied 450W they work as advertised, provide more than enough voltage even for overclocking. (runs a friend of mines P4 2.6C@3.2GHZ rock stable). But I would rather go for a Coolermaster Centurion 2 aluminum chassis with a Fortron 530W PSU which will be more future proof if you ever plan going with a Geforce 6800.:)

If you wanna save a few bux
Ram

I use them for some light gaming and the result is not bad. But I got them (1 gig) for 142 shipped when the price was 71/stick

ok cool, did what u guys recommended and saved some money. also, is the sound quality on the chaintech mobo that much better than a 5.1 live?

The ALC850 codec on the Chaintech is rather good; equal or better than a Live! 5.1

And it has SPDIF out.

That's right. All your other choices are outstanding but for PSU.

Guys you have no idea what you speak. EVER case is the Silent PC review case of choice if you don't want the antec's SLK's. I don't like doors so I think the evercase is an excellent option.

I just put a Samsung P80 120GB Hard drive in my PC, and I must say you made a good choice. The performance is great, and it is super quiet. Seek noises are a thing of the past.

I see everyone else has already picked apart the case and PSU, no point going there. You will have a great system when you are done.

Not if the game is Doom 3 because it doesn't use hardware sound AT ALL.

Yup good choice. I've read at silentPCreview.com the samsung spinpoints are the best HD's out today now that the Seagate cuda 4's are no longer made.

3 years warranty, equivalently priced as thier competitors, fast, and silent. Can't ask for more.

You could build a screamer game rig for ~$1200 if you don't mind "setting" the chip to where it's supposed to be. I don't use the term overclcoking until you're past either the voltages or speeds of the top rated chip in it's catagory/iteration.

Nice case (really subjective) and good branded PSU $100

Thermaltake Silent Boost HS - 24.99

Epox 8K3ADJ mobo - 90.00

AMD 64 2800 set to 3700+ - 168.00

Corsair Value Select (Dual Pack) 184 Pin 1G(512MBx2) DDR PC-3200 - CAS 2.5 180.00

Samsung 80 gig drive - 59.00

Geforce 6800GT 339.00

Microseft Black KB and cordless mouse pack $30

NEC/MITSUBISHI DP930SB-BK 19" SuperBright Diamondtron 300.00

= 1291.00

The Creative Live has a drop in sound power somewhere at the 16 kHz limit (very high frequency sounds would be attenuated). This is the reason I choose a Creative Audigy player, but right now I would choose an Audigy 2 as it has a much linear power vs frequency graphic. (full 24 bit version of the Audigy - the original Audigy uses in some places 16 bit precision).

The Evercase is a perfectly fine case.
HOWEVER, I do agree you are getting more for the money (unless you build/repair for others on the side, and therefor can use the spare PSU to save a few $) getting an Antec w/ a PSU.

Sound you simply need to decide for yourself. Many people cannot appreciate a good sound card, and that's all there is to it.
