Just built my new system (see sig).

Right now I'm getting about 5300 on 3DMark05 .... I think that this is kinda low though, what do you guys think?

Anyways, I am wanting to do some oc'ing in my BIOS, but I'm an oc'ing noob and wanted some advice.

1. I bought the OCZ Plat Rev 2 DDR b/c of it's oc'ing ability, but I can't make heads or tails of exactly what I should change in the BIOS!? What settings should I tweak exactly in order to increase speed?

2. I'm oc'ing my 6800 Ultra via coolbits in windows to 441/1.16. Should I be doing something different?

3. I'm using Auto OC'ing in the BIOS....this the right way to go?

4. Motherboard Monitor says that my CPU is running at:
CPU - 26 C
Case - 20 C
Sensor - 30 C
This can't be right?! Or can it? Even for idle temps....a CPU @ 26 C...damn! And during gaming it only rises a little above 30 C. I'm using a Zalman 7000A-Cu heatsink w/Artic Silver. Is something wrong here?

-Thanks in advance for any input/advice.

Don't have a 64bit rig yet, so personally can't help ya. But here's a free bump for a reasonable question.

I can't say how those 3dmark scores compare/stack up, but I wouldn't use anything that says 'auto overclock.' Usually manually adjusting the memory timings, and since you have an aFX, the multiplier, should be a good place to start. I haven't really tried to oc my a64 3200 at all and doubt that I could with the mobo im running.

Btw, damn nice choice of components =)

quite the expensive system...

two ways of overclocking for you, raise your multiplier, which will only raise the speed of your CPU, or you can raise your FSB, which will raise both your CPU and your RAM.

About the temps, go see if there is a newer version of your BIOS that reads the temps correctly.

We have similar systems. You're getting a very nice 3dMark05 score as it is.

My score is 4778 with an FX53.

There's nothing wrong with the Auto OC thing, I've used the 10% over and it works well.

If you'd like to see pictures of how to OC your board, visit my web site and scroll down. The only differance is your multiplier is already at 13.

You can try manually OCing it, but I'd suggest installing Clockgen with ghost icons if you're going to go higher. That way, if the system hangs, you reboot and it comes back. Otherwise you may have to reset the cmos, which is a pain in the butt.
I really wouldn't worry about going much higher than you already are. Sure, you'll want to see what the limit is, but then I'd just set it at 10% over and leave it at that.

As for your temps, I'm not sure. You've got the latest bios, but they can't be that low.

Great....thanks guys.

BTW - I removed mbm5 and installed Asus' monitoring program. Now it says:

CPU - 39 C
MOBO - 27 C

I'm much happier. Thanks for all the advice.
