Ok, thanks guys. You guys have talked me into moving from the fx-55 to the 4000+. That will save $300 there. Now, if I want to OC that thing in the future, will the memory I have listed above be ok for the OC. It is

2 pcs 512 Corsair TWINX1024-3200C2PRO

Thanks again!!

If you want it to last 4 years, get 2X1 GB sticks of RAM. In 2 yrs or less, 2 GB will be the norm. Don't cheap out here.
As for the PSU, I would get the Enermax SLI. The OCZ is a nice PSU, but only has 26A@+12V. Too low for SLI IMO.

Considering each 6800GT will probably only put a max load of 7A each, that's a pretty interesting opinion. ;)

By the time 2 gig is the norm, any system today will be 5 years obsolete. It makes sense to buy for today, not for tomorrow. The money is better spent/saved elsewhere. He could always get additional 2x512 sticks later for cheaper given declining ram prices.

PSU, RAM, Sound Card, rest looks fine.

All 3 are the biggest waste of money.

To OP: if you were to build a computer for 2x less the cost today, and then take the remaining savings from today and build a whole new system in 2 years using those savings or even upgrade just the videocard and the cpu in 2 years, you'd have a way faster system for the remaining 2 years of the 4 years you plan to keep this system. Instead you will have the fastest system today, good system in 2 years and slow for the remaining 2. Just my 2 cents.

Antec is great, but you don't want to mess aroud with SLI.

The same Seasonic 600watt I've linked to about 5 times today ;)

I'm not laughing at the cost, but I think an FX-55 is a terrible buy. A 4000+ will perform almost as fast and cost hundreds less. A 3800+ is almost there too and costs a whole lot less.

benchmarks

Spend the money saved from the FX-55 on some better speakers or even a raptor. (I can't believe I just recommended a raptor to someone :p)

Great deal on the Seasonic, I think I might pick one of those up. The FX-55's big redeeming option is the unlocked multiplier, which allows people to overclock it into the next decade. If you're not going to get a nice watercooling or phase setup for the FX-55, you're just throwing money away though to be honest. $600 for .4Ghz? No thanks.

The Raptor is worth it as are a set of speakers, although I find I can't use them much because other people live here...lol
