prophet001, do you have any hands on experience in building a rig?

My opinions is a waste of money especially when you consider how fast the stuff will depreciate....that aside it probably will rock!!!

A few questions??

Do you really need 4gb of ram? I doubt it
Do you really need raptors in a Raid format? I doubt it....performance will not be worth it...
Do you really need to spend that much on an Lian Li case? I doubt it...my experience with them are they are overpriced and often times poorly designed for case ventilation...ask MarkFW900 about his overpriced case...
The Zalman is inferior IMO compared to others such as the ninja line of HSF....

I coulf build a rig that would be neglible to that in performance for considerably less...only cause I would cut out that fat...You could be rich and money is no object, but I still cant see wasting money...

Why would you skimp on memory and put 667 in a machine like that? Get 800 at least. You are seriously setup to overclock and the 667 memory will slow you down. $250 for a case is a huge amount. You can find cases at least close to that for around 100. Take the $150 and invest in better RAM. With the extreme core 2, you might even want to think about faster RAM than 800 - overclock to 4GHz!

He wouldn't need it!!! the defualt multiplier is 11x and to get 4ghz he wont even have to go over 400fsb to get 4ghz and I dont think he will get much more then that anyways.....I would get decent DDR2 800 stuff capable of cas 4 and call it good...I think 4gb is still overkill unless he can explain why he needs it...Often times occupying all of the dimm slots can actually reduce ocing ability....I would go with 2gb with 2x1gb sticks...My 2 cents there....

Just my own opinion...

Case - This is a personal choice. You can find just as good, if not better, for less. Choosing a case can be hard because the choices are so many. For that kind of price I have seen some good modded cases that give more cooling.

Mobo - Not a bad choice but there are some that overclock better and have the same features if not more. Lot of new mobos come out this month that'll be better. The P5W DH is cheaper than it and better IMO. There are some 965 mobos that'll certainly overclock better than it. Some 570s as well.

Video Card - Ah, CF is nice. Assuming you got the dough and need it. If your monitor is higher than 1600x1200 resolution dual cards is the way to go. G80s launch next week. You may want to wait and see what they benchmark at. That could change your mind about ATI and CF.

PSU - 850w is nice if you plan to go high end dual card setup. There are just as good power supplies that are cheaper though. PCP&Cooling is overpriced IMHO. You dont have to spend that much to get what you need.

Processor - Nice if you really want it. Another option is to buy a E6400 or E6600 and overclock it up to or higher than a stock E6800.

RAM - I agree with others when they say 4GB RAM is overkill. Get 2x1024 PC6400 (800) for best results. especially if you plan to overclock.

Floppy - I can see why a floppy is still handy. I use them myself. Others will disagree but at that price its not important what others think.

Hard drive - Two Raptors in RAID isnt going to help much in gaming. A single Raptor and two 7200.10 drives in RAID or a single Raptor and a single 7200.10 is a better setup and less costly.

DvD - Not a bad choice. I like the BenQ 1655 more but its getting harder to find nowadays. The lite-on is fine. Keep it.

Sound card - Good choice. No problem there.

HSF - Again, a good choice. To save some money the Artic Freezer Pro 7 is cheaper and nearly as good. There are some HSF that are a tad better performance but heavier. Kinda a personal choice on what you want. The 9500 will do you fine though.

You can get a decent rig around $2500. Some of the items are way too much, overkill for sure. You don't need to go to that extreme.

Buy what you need and be happy. You can definitely do better, try again.
