ok, long story short i just put in 90% new parts into my system and when i start it up everything seems to kick on however nothing displays on my screen...its just black however the light on my LCD is green so im assuming its getting a signal of some kind...the parts are as follows.

1 400w forton PSU for everything else
1 400w JGE psu for mobo ONLY
8800GT vid PCIe
amd am2 socket w/ 6000+ windsor cpu
2 GB ddr2 800 in one stick
mobo is ECS nforce6m-A
so far the only HDD i have connected is a 60GB ide IBM that has my original OS installed on it.

any tips would be greatly appriciated.

yep. it can cause boards to burn out without it. That is why I always use the proper power plugs for the motherboard.
