Whats wrong?

From the post you linked...

CPU Cooling: LN2 (Pro3 + V-TEC ARC Bed Rev.3.4)

EDIT: I posted before you edited your post...

Anyhow, the more extreme the better, 🙂 but I would have more respect if it was a 24/7 runner...

To extreme for you.

Liquid Nitrogen isn't really something you can use day to day. Although it is impressive, it would be nice if it was on Vapochill or something that could run almost indefinately.

Kinda makes ya wonder what the ceiling will be for the Dothan core if Intel switches their desktop line to the Dothan design and isn't tamed down for power consumption/heat output.

I'll repeat what I said there

Try 32M watch a stock 4000+ beat it. Dothan has some colossal performance flaws. Which it why it's not on the desktop, yet, in current form.

The Dothan's future descendents will have a serious overhaul in terms of the "flaws" Zebo mentioned. Hopefully starting with Yonah. If a Dothan o/c'd to 3440 can massacre an FX-55 o/c'd to near 3720MHz even with these "flaws", I think Yonah will be a home run if ASUS continues to produce such adapters as the CT-479 to support it on the desktop. It will be the biggest craze since the Mobile Athlon XP 2500+. IMHO

Super 32M is not a reference benchmark, 1M is. 32M is a stability test.

The reference benchmarks (the only ones that matter) are:

1. 3dMark 01
2. 3dMark 03
3. 3dMark 05
4. Super PI 1M
5. PiFast (kinding of dying lately)

and maybe, but not yet,

6. cinebench

I dont think 1m should be..Too short....I dont run the one that shows to the 1000th place so I run 4mb to see a few seconds difference in clock speed...otherwise you can damn near go 100mhz without 1 second of change......

Cinebench is a good one....

They need a good encoding program that runs an DIVX, XVID, and WME 9 test and then gives a score...PCmark04 sucks like all the rest of the futuremock crap!!!

1M is like a drag race. I dont think the others will ever really catch on. You should use the anti-cheat mod as it includes decimal places. Go to xtremesystems and check out the competitions forum. They are working on an inhouse benchmark that will replace all of these. Suggest your encoding benchmark there.

Synth has a 1700+ at 2.4ghz 😉

why is 32MB not a bench? How acruate are the results of this massive OC'd computer, if they can not be correlated to a higher degree? Whats the difference?

Agree totally, how many tests out there are considered benchmarks that take 30 seconds or less to run? Drag race on a computer my arse. I can type 100 words per minute, if I only have to type for 5 seconds.

they mentionted that Dothan would p1ss on the Oced FX55 at 4000Mhz .. but that was the 130nm .. i say get the FX57 on LN2 and then test it .. i think that will be able to reach (on a good day) 4.5Ghz ... then we are talking AMD ownage 😀😀

Ya yonah will fly but Conroe well smoke with 47 watts I have read conroe will come out at 3.0 and go up from there. It is rumered that it will also be 30% faster than dothan at same clock(merom 31watts) It is also rumored that Intel will not go ondia memory on the desk top till there forced to. What another 20%to 30% speed bump from ondie controller. thats a lot of performance from just a memory controller. Its still along way off darn darn darn

LOL LOl LOl LOL LOL

Ya show them results and than they want the test changed. I do agree with Duvie on this . He is right! Still its impressive. Duvie speculate 1 time on this question. Merom 4mb shared catch . I say under 19 seconds. .
