I still think we need an IT forum. A lot of those kids who learned how to build gaming PC's from Anandtech in the 90's have grown up and now have boring IT jobs!

We need a forum that's strictly for the people who troll P&N and ruin any attempt at honest political discussion there. That forum sucks complete ass now and the refusal to clean it up is ridiculous. We know the posters who are ruining it, move them to a separate forum and let them post their partisan claptrap while adults have a mature discussion about actual political issues.

That sounds like a neat idea. How about a forum strictly for people who want to have an honest political discussion & exclude those who engage in personal attacks, dishonest arguments, etc.? Heck, even extend that idea to OT.

I think there should be a sub-forum for every single topic possible. Then nothing would be considered "Off topic" and ATOT will vanish.

Kind of a good idea - to actually get it to work, I've suggested forums for left and right (and I guess 'other' would be ok). A liberal can't talk to liberals without a lot of crap.

Yes, let's further reduce OT activity! Great Idea!

Here is a better one: If you see a thread that you have no interest in, don't click it.suggest a sub-forum for it.

The reason for sub-forums is to clear up the general channel when there's a kind of noise that's pervading many if not most of the communications.

Unless there's a different culutre/rules to be implemented there's no need for a sub-forum.

AMD vs. Nvidia flamewar forum.

VC&G would need to be shut down due to lack of activity which would be the only side effect.

The manpower required to enforce such a thing would be bananas.

Give Religion and Politics its own subforum

Bring all else back into one forum.

Why would it take manpower to police a forum filled with people who have proven that they can post responsibly, without resorting to continuous personal attacks, etc.?

When I read it it sounded more like it would just be heavily moderated to quell the fires that always start in political discussions. If you mean a section that only allows those on a list, then that would be less constant upkeep I guess. Just seems like making such a list would take some time. Would you have to "apply" for access to that section, or would you get access whether you want to use it or not if you're a longer standing member with good rep?
