The kind of society conservatives want to create is a Gestapo state, as state of authoritarian worship of the demanding, strict, disciplinary father. The notions of nurture and inner self expression are crushed by the demands of conformity. The result is a culture of robots, seething with repressed rage and longing for the loving mother who is consciously despised. The gun is an external manifestation of the authoritarian hand. It is worshiped by the patriarchal as a symbol of dominance and used in revenge for loss, not of worldly things and family, but loss of self respect, the paranoid need for masculine power, the true form of which was branded out by the stamp of conformity.

I think youre confused. Conformity isnt a conservative ideal, its an idea that crosses the aisle in the establishment. Look at all members of the conservative base who support Snowden for standing up for his ideals and look at all the liberal big shots (Obama, Pelosi, Feinstein, Reid) who want him tried for treason.

Trying to whittle every conflict, every debate, down into conservative:liberal just so you can go on your "brain defect" rant is in fact a brain defect in itself I think.

Unless you're intentionally misrepresenting reality?

Thats suchs a dishonset statemnet you folks use over and over and over and over. Ever heard of a car? Gun shows? Driving somewhere to get something? Cities don't reside in vacuums.

so you mean passing laws doesn't prevent criminals from getting their hands on guns?!

HOW IN THE WORLD?

Your mother hurt you very, very deeply. We all can see this. Have you ever told her you forgive her?

Doppel, you idiot, the topic of this thread is the relationship or lack thereof between guns and violence in a society. It's not how I feel about my Mother. You find my point of view offensive because you have the kind of mentality that I describe as the real source of violence in society, the relationship that I see between the punitive mentality and the nurturing mentality characteristic of conservatives and liberals respectively, a mentality I characterize as the punishing father and the nurturing mother. These are symbolic terms understandable by really even ordinary minds. I am sorry that I went over your head in my description, but please don't fuck over other people's threads by you petty, vindictive attacks on me. Try once in a while, even though it may tax you greatly, to focus on the ideas I present giving some reasonably thought out alternative if you disagree with them. Try to rise above the level of a shit throwing ape. Thank you.

No greater attempt to distort reality could be made, I think, than the attempt by conservatives to assert the reality of the bubble they self create and live in. If you want to see conformity in action, watch the Republicans vote in mass to shut down the government of the United States. The whole purpose and thrust of my attacks on the conservative brain defect is to show that it is dangerous as it exists among modern conservatives. To be a threat to ones own nation while thinking otherwise, is definitely a brain defect, regardless of what you might want to call it. I am describing something that is real and visible, except to the folk so infected, and to anybody but them it is a defective way of seeing the world. You will just have to get used to the idea that normal minds can see you are defective in your thinking. Sorry about that, but it's your actual condition, not that of the rational rest of us.

60 extra Missourians per year got themselves dead from repealing gun laws?

No. Annual murders:

1999 - 359
2000 - 347
2001 - 372
2002 - 331
2003 - 289
2004 - 354
2005 - 402
2006 - 368
2007 - 385 <- law change
2008 - 456
2009 - 387
2010 - 420
2011 - 366
2012 - 389

Notice that the "study" (which even the author admits is only preliminary) focuses only on 2008-2010. Including 2011 and 2012 contradicts the author's conclusion, so he just ignores those years.

Seriously, it's not hard to do some independent research instead of just blindly believing whatever shit you read on the internet. Well, maybe it is too hard for the OP, since he can't even correctly summarize his own source. The article claims that reduced background checks increase murders, not that "more guns = less safe."

Fuck's sake, another derail. Can't anyone do something about this moron?

I just asked one moron not to fuck up somebody else's thread. You have an ignore button and it would be a great honor for me if somebody as emotionally out of control and obsessional as you are were to use it. You are the person who went off the rails and you know how to fix it. You stamp your feel like a childish brat demanding that others help you. Grow the fuck up, you imbecile and put me on ignore. Stop shitting in other people's threads. They don't need an self appointed emotionally disturbed bully like you to protect them.
Put me on ignore, you twit, or shut the fuck up.

I don't think you understand how science works.

Is your brain so defective that you couldn't read and respond to my post? All you did was regurgitate your points again. That's not a debate or discussion, it's a lecture and the last time I checked your name wasn't Moonie, Ph.D

I can see you are getting angry, but as you once told me we can only be made to feel by others what we already feel, so please thank me for it.

That said, you already tried to hijack the thread and look rather silly trying to turn that back over on me for simply calling you on it. Nobody else appears to be buying it, either. You are so damaged :(

ok it goes like this.....

by Donald K. Martin

Yesterday I placed my shotgun on the front porch, gave it six shells, and noticing it had no legs, placed it in a wheelchair to help it get around. I left it alone and went about my business.

While I was gone, the mailman delivered my mail, the boy across the street picked up my yard, a girl walked her dog down the street, and quite a few cars stopped at the stop sign near my house.

After 10 hours, I checked on the shotgun. It was still sitting in the wheelchair. It had not rolled outside and It had not killed anyone in spite of many opportunities that had been presented. It had not even loaded itself.

Can you imagine how surprised I was with all the hype about how dangerous guns are and how they kill people? Either the media is wrong and the killing is by people misusing guns or I'm in possession of the laziest gun in the world. So now I'm off to check on my spoons, because I hear they make people fat.

Same thing would happen if you left a suitcase bomb in your wheelchair. I guess we should make those legal too?
