Wow....4000 years and all the technology looks the same. Same lightsabers, same droids, same ships.

I'm not a Star Wars geek or anything, but I thought that it was pretty common knowlege that all the tech we see in the movies isn't exactly new. In fact it always sort of struck me that they were coming off the downswing of something of a dark age. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the game, I just hope it doesn't disappoint.

Wow, sabre battles looks even more improved than ever. Even in JK II they were a bit of a letdown, the same rush in and take a few lucky chops at the guy as always. They sorely need to add more auto-blocking and allow more inside moves than what we've seen so far.

Otherwise...looks a little low-poly, and too much like an RPG. At least they've finally gotten around to combining the classic Star Wars space sim with their first person shooters!

KOTR is an RPG. One that is non-linear (similar to Morrowind). The screens that show you can fly ships via the cockpit view is presumably just an extra mode to tide you over while you manuver from planet to planet.

Ships and things and the like are basically known technologies in Star Wars. What I'm trying to get at is that they've been around for a long time and they don't really change much. Once travel through hyperspace was learned, they didn't need to change it, for example. There's just modifications to it to make it better. As far as the lightsaber goes, it's an ancient weapon, as it is. The methods for constructing those wouldn't change over the course of 4000 years. There are technological advancements on the other things, though. For example, the X-wing fighter is the replacement for the Z-95 Headhunter (yes, I'm a Star Wars geek in my spare time) and is a better ship, but they look a good deal alike if you compare the two side-by-side. Same with one of the droids in the trailer - it looks a good bit like an R2 unit, just not as advanced or smart or whatever. My $.02.

The game looks very interesting, if not large and semi-daunting. With this type of game, does Lucas have a say in the story, or some one that knows all the history and try to keep it in line? There must be some geeks out there somewhere who keeps track of all that stuff.

Yummy. :D Any idea of a release date, besides a vague Fall 2002? I'll buy it first on my XBOX and then again on the PC....
