The $80 off $180 coupon is supposedly for a Yamaha CD-RW drive. However, you may get a new/stupid/really cool CSR that will let you use it 😉
 
WRONG! I used it to get a 30gb 7200 RPM hd for $102 and change.
Drive was for 169.99 and I added an ink cartridge to make it 182.

It works people!
 
Update:
I just called Staples CSR to pricematch Maxtor 40GB
When I try to use the coupon, the CSR said it's for Yamaha CD-RW just like Dantzig said
and btw, it's out of stock if you thinking about getting it.
But, if you order directly from online, the coupon works
Although I don't know if there's a problem or not if they know about this
looks like Maxtor 30GB $169 is the one to go
or can anyone find something better ?

No luck! I did the same deal last night on Staples.com.

I added the 30Gb Maxtor for $169.99 and a CD holder to hit $180..
but I just got an email stating the coupon won't work from a CSR.
 
This is a great coupon. I used it to get my multifunction machine and CD-RW. No problem at all.
It was there since last month, but goes like works-expires-works-expires. Now seems work again. Don't miss it!! Great finding!!!
 
My drive should be here tomorrow with the coupon off deal taken directly by the lovely CSR Melinda (who I think is a closet Anandtecher) but I'm not holding my breath that it will go thru.
It may get snagged by their computer at the time of shipping and they usually just ship it at the full price rather than what I authorized it at (How do they get away with that, is their any law their breaking?)

I'm not complaining because I/we have got some incredible deals from them so in the end Staples does not suck even if this deal doesn't go thru!
 
Just an FYI... my order for the 30gig HD using the $80/$180 coupon changed from "Processing" to "shipped" this evening and it should be here in the morning... guess it slips through some of the time at least.

I can't believe how pathetic Staples is. I know this is a case of coupon abuse, but this type of coupon misuse has been going on for almost a full year now. Why is it so hard for them to change their system? Their system should be able to weed out this type of thing.
