I'd like to replace the stock paper speakers in my car. These are my choices:

Front Doors

Alpine SPS-600C

All of these speakers will be powered by a head unit that can supply 14W RMS. I do plan on adding a four channel amplifier later on.

Which should I get for the front doors and which for the rear doors?

I listen to all genres of music.
 
I like the sound of Alpine speakers over Pioneer speakers personally, but would take those Pioneers over Alpine Type S speakers. Type S's weren't really that great to me.
 
If you're looking for the best SQ for YOU, ditch the rear speakers and put the money towards the front speakers.

I don't know what your budget is, but if it's around the $100-150 range, these are really good (don't even bother with the set you listed):

One of the most important things you can do to reduce distortion ("muddiness") in the mids is to cross over the bass to a sub. If you free the mids from bass duty they'll sound clearer.

You'll also want to help the noise insulation as well.
 
What are the differences b/w Pioneer's regular lineup and their Premier brand? My front and rear speakers need to be 6.5".
 
Pioneer TS-A series are great bang for buck and have awesome efficiency...

I'd go with the 1682's front and rear and any component speaker will way more affected by that little power.

You can try the 1682's up front first and see if you think you need more, then order the components if you do...you may need an amp though.
 
Thanks guys. I think I'll go with the Pioneers I've listed above. I'll put a two channel amp. in for the components and power the rears with the head unit.

No, go with the ones I listed. Either the TS-D720C or TS-D1720C. They're the same thing. You can order either from www.sonicelectronix.com for $110. They should be quite a bit better than the ones YOU listed. From the reviews I've read, they're definitely worth the extra $20 compared to what you listed.

With an efficiency of only 88dB he is going to need more than a head unit to make them sound decent. The TS-A's are very efficient and HIGHLY recommended for even amp applications at 91dB....3dB is a doubling of perceived volume.

Component speakers IMHO should never be used without an amp.
 
Yeah, this is what I said I'm going to do:

Pioneer TS-A1702C component speakers - connect to two channel amp.
Pioneer TS-A1682R coaxial speakers - connect to head unit.

All of those Pioneer speakers are technically listed as 6 3/4" (go to most online stores and you'll see that...it's called oversized 6.5"). They're going to be the same size as what I listed.

Look, I know that you can get what you listed at under $100. But I'm telling you, the ones I listed for a bit over $100 are A LOT better. You're making a silly choice if you go with what you listed, considering you can get a lot more for a bit more money.

The reason they are so much better (the ones I listed) is that they use the same technology as Pioneer's highest end component set, where as the ones you listed do not. The high end Pioneer components are known to have some of the best mid-woofers you can buy (for under several hundred dollars). Considering this, it would be a very silly move to not buy the $110 set I listed over the $90 set you listed. Size is not a factor, since they are both 6.5" oversized. You'll have to trust me on this. What I listed is known as one of the best component systems you can get for the price (the Phoenix Gold RSD's are also very good for a similar price).
