Danny Ritchie is selling some av123 kits for cheap. Bought a set of X-CS encore for my father in law. Finally finished building them a couple weeks ago

very happy. i think they sound excellent. i prefer the warmness of Danny's kits. sorry, not an audiophile...so can't come up with the proper adjectives to describe the sound. But dialogue is a lot clearer and music is, well, music to my ears
For the price I paid - $400 for all three kits + MDF, veneer, glue, etc...i think it's a really good value

I'd like to know as well...those piano-gloss Rosewood cabinets were gorgeous

AV123 had a pretty epic shutdown history too...

danny was the designer behind many of the av123 speakers. When they closed their doors, the builder, Santiago, jn Colombia, contacted Danny about selling the leftover kits.

thanks for the compliments. This was my 2nd time building speakers. Built myself 7 speakers and 2 subs using Dannys kits for my basement HT. But the finish on these speakers came out much nicer

Why two woofers? From my understanding, that creates interferences that requires special techniques to prevent it.

No biggie. Stranded is just easier to deal with. In certain applications, solid-core can cause attached components to fail due to fatigue (solid exerts much more force), but this is not one of them.

i'm assuming you are referring to the d'Appolito arrangement of the woofers and tweeter.
woofer-tweeter-woofer

i dont believe multiwoofers have interference generally

They do, but MTM can be useful because for a certain range they have narrowed vertical directivity. Good for low ceilings.

Was going to say you did a beautiful job on the cabinets till I read it was veneer. A little cheating but still a fantastic job.

building the cabinets out of solid wood (oak/maple/birch/etc) would get pretty expensive fast. Also solid wood isn't as acoustically dead as MDF. Which is why most speaker DIYers build their cabinets out of MDF and then wrap veneer to make it aesthetically pleasing. But thanks for the compliments!

It's not cheating. It's still easy to f'up a veneer. You still have to get the grains to matchup on the edges and stain/finish it well.

Speakers look great Aharami! The X-CS is a very clear speaker but at the cost of almost being...clinical? I don't know how to describe it. The encore tweeter is much more forward and bright than the older style X-speakers.

They are beasts though...they weigh like 35 pounds each. :)
