New speakers are amazing.... read on

This post isnt about speakers themselves, rather the music thats going through them.

Recently bought some Logitech z-5500s. got them dialed in a few days ago. Untill then I had not run any of my thrash/speed/death metal through them... for some unknown reason that I cant for the life of me explain!

So I figure Ill fire up some Metallica and enjoy it a bit.

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD. I chose And Justice For All and I can honestly say that this album has never sounded fuller, more alive and MEANER than I have ever remembered hearing it!

I had almost forgotten how bad ass Metallica was from 1983 to 1988. I also busted out my copy of Live ******: Binge and Purge just to watch the '89 Seattle concert.... I would give ANYTHING to have been there for that concert.

Hell, it even got me seriously considering picking up my guitar regularly again (havent played regularly for almost 3 years).

Well, I just figured Id share my glee with the rest of you. Maybe some of you have had this same type of experience? If so post up!

I had the moment of glee (****** eating grin) when I was pumping Lobby Scene from the Matrix just after i had gotten my ACI Maestro XL 🙂

I like the minigun helicopter bit better 😛

The LFE in the other matrix movies is even more intense (too bad the movies sucked)

or a great pair of headphones.

goto www.head-fi.org and get the bug.

so far ive managed to only spend about 400 bucks but if i had more money, id be goin nuts.

all i got so far is a pair of super.fi 5 pro IEM's for my zen vision and a pair of AKG 501's for classical at home.

god only knows what happens when you start to hear the crazy good audiophile equipment.
first thing they say to you on head-fi is welcome and sorry about your wallet.

That's what I was thinking....what if you heard this through some REAL speakers?

I too have the z-5500s and love them. They are not known for amazing sound quality - they ARE known for incredible power and bass, high volumes without distortion, and pretty good sound quality, and all that for an excellent price. And that is why they're great for my computer speakers, where all I do is listen to loud rap and bassy, powerful games and movies.

I'm sure some professional high-end speakers would sound great, but I don't think most of the content on my PC would really demonstrate that difference anyway.

Stax 3030s 🙂 I keep them behind bullet proof glass, wouldn't want to re-buy something like that. As good as they may be, I'd drop em like *that* for a really good cochlear implant.

You got me in the Metallica mood yesterday night, so I'm A/B-ing my DVD-A and DTS Black Albums on my Dynaudio Contour S1.4's right now.

fun. ^_^

It's present but not very natural quality. 😉
