New Sound Card for Computer

So for My new Computer I planing on building I'm trying to figure out if I want to stick with My Audigy 2 ZS, or If I should ditch it for a new model or a deferent brand. For the past year I have heard people talk about how " Creative sucks! bla bla bla go with "*****" they are better bla bla bla" So are there cards out there that offer better sound (within the $100-$200 range)?

I'm planing on doing mostly Video Editing on this computer but I also want to game a little on the side so I would like to have 5.1 sound ingame. For speakers I have the Klipsch 5.1 ultra set-up right now.

I think the zs is a good match with your 5.1 ultras, especially if you're doing some gaming.

When you say video editing... do you mean capturing video and audio off of a source (like plugged into capture cards) and then editing it?

I mainly capture the footage off a DV camcorder with Firewire so if you were wondering if I needed capture port for audio then no.

Id just stick with the Audigy 2 ZS, dedicated Audio Card Manufacturers such as M-Audio and Terratec make prosumer 5.1 or 7.1 cards but whether they are better than Creative I dont know. Realistically you would be looking at spending $500 + on a audio card that can give you better sound quality and 5.1 capabilities. But these audio cards are dedicated towards music production rather than gaming applications so unless you are really serious about Video Editing then it would be serious overkill.

I would disagree.

Here's one for $99 Emu 0404

and another one for $99 Audiophile 2496

Both of these are way better than the Audigy, except for gaming.
