Anyone running one of these cards? If so, would you be willing to share your software with me for a test? I am currently using an X-GAMER. I went to www.soundblaster.com and found that there is no difference in the two cards except that the new 5.1 version does Dolby Digital decoding. It seem to be just a software reprogram to the EMU10K chip since it is a DSP chip. I would like to test the new software with my old card to see if my assumptions are right. I am wondering if I need to get a new card.
Are you willing to share? If so drop me an e-mail.

There is actually a small hardware difference.

The X-Gamer 5.1 has a little multi-port, the non 5.1 has a digital mini jack.

The "mulit-port" (my name, not an offiical name) can be a digital mini jack, but it can also be a center/sub analog output, the non-5.1 does not have that ability.

It's a possiblity that your card would work with the dolby digital decoding drivers, but you would only have 4 analog outputs, not 6. That is a hardware difference.

Can u say which jack is the "MULTI" port? I compared both cards on soundblaster.com and all the jacks are the same as far as spec go. I had a live full (before the platinum) and that one came with a daughter card that had what I could call a "multi" port. Could you supply a bit more info?
