Well I just ordered the 130 model. I hate when I am purchasing something and do not go with the better specs because I stare at it for 3 hours and then finally hit the buy button. I got mine for nearly half the price of the 150. The specs on the 130 are 30hz-18khz unlike the 150 which are 18hz-22Khz but I really doubt it can make much of a difference. See, it isn't going to effect me but I still waste a ton of time feeling guilty that I am not buying the better of the two. Anyway, I did not want to buy the 150 because the closed air design as you call it hurts my ears after a while. I guess one good thing is that it blocks out the surounding sound but in my case, I do not like that.

The 150 has a closed ear design? Meaning it isolates noise? SWEET!

I ordered them already and i didn't even know that.

Well I am calling it as I see it. It may not have those huge cups that cover your whole ear but the smaller ones do a pretty good job of blocking out sound as well as putting presure on your ear lobe which after a while can lead to pain.

Since this was my thread, I feel obligated to report on the product now that I've received it.

First off, this is NOT a closed-ear set. If they were, rest assured they wouldn't be selling for 40 bucks and change (45.90 again now). The product shown on eCost's site, at least in the earpieces, does NOT match the actual product. Perhaps they had a picture of a prototype - who knows. The actual earpieces are cushioned and circular - they feel quite nice and moving them around doesn't feel like having sandpaper on your ear.

Secondly, they ARE remarkably comfortable, with the same felt-type treatment of the earpieces (same material as the earpieces on my HD580s) and the sound is a definite improvement over my Plantronics Audio .90. I've only tested the microphone in Sound Recorder, but it sounded superb on playback.

Now, the complaints.

The microphone, while very receptive, is also very short. Though Sound Recorder sounded crystal clear, your experiences may be different.

At first, the band feels a little constricting on the head and ears, at least initially. I expect over time the flexing element in the band will relax and this will be alleviated.

The Y-split in the cables leaves very little spatial room. You have to cut the little fastener if your microphone/speaker jacks are farther apart than a few inches.

All in all, so far I don't regret buying these. They're a definite improvement over my last set and much better sounding.

This might be a dumb question, but if I'm not planning to use the microphone on a speaker set, is it detachable?

Nope, but you can fold it up out of your way. The cord is super long (longest cord I've ever seen on a pair of headphones). Kinda disappointed with the headband though, doesn't feel right on my head. I dunno, maybe I'm just too used to my old pair which were behind the head style. Sound quality is definitely better than my old pair though (I can actually hear the bass now).

Got mine today and they're great.. but i'm getting kinda bad performance out of the mic. Sound recorder comes through filled with static. Any way to fix this? Maybe i have my sound card settings wrong.

Try fiddling with the volume controls to the mic. Mine's set at max vol in, but it's fine - might be different for you - also, if you're using Creative or another set of drivers that has it's own properties menu, make sure that isn't the problem. You MIGHT have two programs trying to set the microphone volume.

EDIT: I just looked at your rig, if you don't have them, try downloading the most recent drivers from Creative. JUST the driver pack - not any of the utilities. That's what I'm running and it's crystal clear.

Sorry, haven't updated my rig in a while. I'm using the integrated audio on a Epox 8RDA+ (nForce2). There are two programs adjusting the volume, windows has it's own volume control, and the nForce control panel has an adjustment slider.

The problem isn't volume. I can hear my own voice fine, there is just a lot of background noise. Maybe this is normal for a mic like this?

Nah, more like it might be Soundstorm issues. Get acquainted with the forums at nForcersHQ.com - the Drivers forum and the forum for your board. Chances are you're not the only one with this issue.

nVidia seriously needs to get new drivers out. They were expected in August.

Ordered on 10/3/03 hadn't heard anything other than the order is processing email.
I just checked and seems theres some problem:

Ship Status Shipping Information
NOT APPROVED Carrier Number
N/A

Item Status Product Description Qty Price
In Process PC 150 NOISE CALCELLING HEADSET W/ MIC 1 $36.95

Credit cards good, Im dissapointed I am not using my new headset 🙁

I got the 130s today. The build quality is average, the sound is pretty good for $23 headphones. They sent them UPS out of TN. What is weird is that I also ordered two VGA cords with this to push the price above $25 (it was $41 total) and they shipped the VGA cords through Fedex. I suspect they came from the same warehouse too.

8RDA only has this: Onboard Audio: Realtek ALC650E 6-channel audio.
So it's not nvidia's fault. Its epox or realtek.

After a couple days of deliberation, i finally ordered the PC150's. I was going to get the Altec Lansing AHS-502. But finally decided on the Senn's. Did I make a good choice? i'm still kinda nervous cuz i don't know which one's better.

anyone purchase and receive the pc-140? I like the behind the head style and would appreciate any comments on these.. comfort etc

I don't ever know of anyone ever talking about a BAD Sennheiser headphone or earphone, or microphone. Altec Lansing is primarily a speaker company. Sennheiser is primarily a headphone and microphone company - who would you want making a headset for you?

Also, bump for new pricing information - eCost seems to KNOW they have a hot product on their hands, and Newegg STILL doesn't have these in stock.

The PC140s have a little less in terms of "specs" than the PC150s. There are detailed PDF whitepaper links on the first page of the thread about midway down. The microphones are the same on all PC sets, I believe, but the 150's have the most impressive elements - specifically in the low-end of the audio spectrum. The plush faux velvetine earpieces on the PC150s are worth the extra money IMO. But if comfort and cash is an issue, the 140's should still be superior to anything else on the market.

I can't talk specifics however, since I got the 150s.
