New screenshots of windows XP! A lot less kiddie now!

I kind of like that one...
It's really not much different except it's silver/grey instead of blue...amazing what a simple colour change can do...

<< Looks good, but not very practical >>

It looks EXTREMELY practical. I like the color differences and shading that in my opinion helps to separate dialog boxes and menus from each other. The different colored close button will help eliminate mis-clicks....

All the different elements on the screen are easily identifiable and don't blend with each other..

I like lots.

That is so much better. I really like it. I hope you can get rid of the right hand side of the Start menu, it covers half of the screen! Oh and w(hy)tf is the Start button green? 🙂

MrGrim:

Somewhere (don't remember where exactly and don't have the beta anymore) there is a check box to use the classic start menu.

Each build they're implementaing new things. New icons, new themes and what not. I know they arent implmenting new programs or anything, but the GUI looks awesome. I like it, totally.

I think it looks great!!! If you don't like it, DON'T BUY IT.

The same people that are talking about how bad the OS is and how Mac'ish it looks are probably gonna be the same ones warezin' it on Day 1

<< whoa.. NSF.. !!! 🙂..

they are just stating they're opinion! 😉
>>

I know 😉 I'm just stating that the same people that will down the OS will be the first ones lining up to check it out😛

i have not been using office for long, but it looks much nicer.plus for what i paid for it i couldn't go wrong.office xp proffesional,intelli-mouse, and a polo xp shirt for 59.95.

So true NSF4 so true. If it turns out to be compatible with most of the hardware and software that Win 2000 is, then I think they will be the first to grab it.

I've used the beta myself, and personally, I kinda like the blue better. But this does look pretty sweet. As far as the start menu goes, the new one is an atrocity. Its actually slower to come up, and aside from the most used programs, I dont see whats so special about it. Thats what the desktop is for. Although MS seems to think the desktop should be clear and the start menu should hold all the programs. Better yet, some idiot decided to put the all programs list BELOW the most used program icons. You zip over the all programs as you reach for the most used, and next thing you know, youve got your entire list of programs blocking the most used ones that youre trying to get to. Kinda defeats the purpose doesnt it?

As far as compatibility and stability goes, I havent had a single problem yet, and its a beta. The thing is though, unless programs specify it, they wont use the new look of the buttons. The menu bars and frame will be updated, but the buttons wont. It'll be a little time before all the programs are specified to do so, but its like two lines of code, basically just a permission. Probably why all the apps work well, and theres no formatting problems.
