New Screen protection idea for PDA

Using a screen protector to protect the surface of the touch screen, but inevitably, dust gets under the sides and throws off the digitizer.

Since it's a VGA screen (x50v), the problem is worse (so I hear) because the touch-screen has to be more sensitive than older (non-VGA) models.

So I was thinking of getting some sort of clear sealant, like caulking but obviously a lot less of it, and "tracing" around the edge of the screen.

It would have to be a substance that would harden, but also be able to be pulled off without damaging the Pocket PC's screen.

Any ideas on what I can use? Or is it ultimately futile because it would either harm the Axim, prevent it from working properly, etc.?

(My other idea was to make a screen protector with a "lip" around the edge to block dust from entering, but since I neither have any clue nor the technical ability... I leave that up to you to fabricate, market, sell, and get rich off of!) :)

You could try some clear window caulking. I don't know if it would damage the screen or not, but it does tend to remain plyable after usage.

Wouldn't that be too "thick"? Or is there a way to make it come out of the tube in a smaller stream? Maybe applying it w/ a toothpick...

The thickness of the caulking exiting the tube is purely based on how big of a hole you cut in the nozzle. If you want a very thin bead, cut a very small hole. Just be careful when you are cutting it, because you can always cut more off, but once you go too far you can't undo it.

Additionally, any extra caulking around the area you want to seal just use a moistened rag to wipe away the excess. (Moist not soaking wet)

Good point. Thanks.

Anyone on whether or not this will either hurt the screen or prevent it from working?
