I have an e280 and i've been enamored with sansa's for a while but this takes it to the next level. Finally mpeg 4 support! the e200 series movie playback system was pretty mediocre (though ahead of its time)

If this has as good sound quality as the e200 series then it may be as good as the iriver clix.

I hope Sandisk does come out with a PMP still, but I doubt it'll be called the "View" also. In terms of an mp3 player this thing looks better than the Creative Zen, but that thing has a larger screen and more video codec support (i think).

solid state for sure. you dont need all your music with you at all times. 16 gigs is more than enough. plus throw in a sd card and you have 20 gigs or maybe more.

I've been debating for a while now too. I think I've found what I want.

This player looks real nice. More storage + bigger screen would be nice, but I rather have a smaller player like this

Looks like they just took the e200, made it thinner, increased the battery life by about 70 percent, added new features, got rid of the annoying record button, and added a bigger screen with better video support. The e200's mjpeg video playback was pretty pathetic. I think they may have improved the scroll wheel too. The UI looks very similar far as I can tell right now.

the scroll wheel on the e200 was tactile and has indentations so you could feel it. In terms of browsing menus, it is pretty precise. In terms of comfort, it got annoying after extended spinning, but you rarely are spinning too much. I think this ones scroll wheel is more like the sansa connects which is much more comfortable and usable with an index finger.

Doesn't the older Sandisk e2xx do things like "synchronizing files" or something every time it's hooked up to a computer? Can you use it just like a quick portable storage device on any computer?

the e200 series can, I'm assuming can too. ONe of the reasons I could not stand IPODs is that you cant just drag and drop files. THe sansa can be set to MTP mode and it's basically a flash drive.

anyone else giddy until you noticed it is a micro sd slot? if it were an sd slot it would be hella better. 2 sd slots and this thing would be perfect.

I am itching for this to come out. I was going to get the nano, but forget it.

Is there a confirmed release date?

It still says 3-4 weeks for me. Does anyone know when this is coming out? Will the Zune2 beat this to the market. Now I am stumped between the View and the Zune2 flash.

Well, it looks like you can pre-order the 16GB on Amazon. But the 8GB just says, "in-stock" soon.

Amazon updated their links with a date of 10-31. Hopefully they will accept pre-orders soon. (There was a pre-order on the 16GB, but now it's gone).

Should be at your local b&m stores like BB and CC. I just ordered a 16GB for local pickup. I'll write up first impressions as soon as I have my hands on it.

Okay, this thing looked slick at first. The build quality and materials is top notch. The scroll wheel feels smooth as butter, the outer case is tough, and the screen is glossy.
However, the things locks up around every three songs. It got annoying fast. I read some reviews at the BB site, and people are saying the same thing. Same for the Sansa forums.
There is a new firmware that brings it up to something .03, right now it's at something 0.0. I tried the Sansa firmware utility at it doesn't want to update my View.
So this thing is going back. Looks like I will try the new Creative Zen or downscale the the s280 or something like that. The small one with the plastic scroll wheel.
I am so dissappointed.
