New S25+ has charging issues

My wife and I just received two S25+ phone, upgrading from out S22 Ultras. At the same time I purchased the phones, (three years ago), I purchased a 45W charger. This phone/charger combo has worked flawlessly since purchase. Today, I went to charge the new phones and neither recognized the charger. Plugged the charger into the old phones and it worked as always. Plugged another charger I have into both phones and they both charged. So, it doesn't appear to be a charger issue. Can anyone provide some info about this that I'm maybe not aware of? Thank you.

Yes, some Galaxy S25+ users are reporting issues with charging using older 45W chargers, particularly those with the bundled 5A USB-C cable. These issues include slow charging, intermittent interruptions, and in some cases, the phone refusing to charge at all. While the S25+ is designed to use Super Fast Charging 2.0 with a 45W charger, some users are experiencing problems with the charging process.

Here's a more detailed breakdown:
  • Problem:
Users are encountering slow charging, intermittent charging interruptions, or the phone refusing to charge using their old 45W charger and the 5A USB-C cable.
  • Cause:
The issue seems to be related to a potential incompatibility between the phone's charging software and the older 45W charger, especially when used with the bundled 5A cable.

  • Solution:
Samsung has acknowledged the issue and is working on a software update to fix it, says the Indian Express. In the meantime, some users have reported that disabling fast charging and using a different cable or a different charger (potentially a 25W charger) can resolve the issue, notes a post on the Samsung community forum.

  • Workaround:
Some users have found that using a different cable, such as a 3A cable, with the 45W charger can resolve the issue, or disabling Super Fast Charging altogether.
In short, while the S25+ is designed to use 45W charging, some users are facing compatibility issues with older chargers, particularly when using the 5A cable. Samsung is working on a fix, and workarounds like using different cables or disabling Super Fast Charging may be helpful in the meantime.
