As the title reads...If you're in the market for a new router & you want something that looks badass, don't overlook this new Linksys Rangeplus.

I haven't tested out the wireless capabilities yet, but setup was a breeze, worked on the 1st try with my Comcast cable connection...But to go along with the ease of getting it set up, it looks sick! Best looking router I've seen yet...It looks even better out of the box than it does in any of the pictures...

Anyway, just wanted to share...Enjoy!

Good looks, that it.

Silly me. I though that Routers are measured in their Network technological capacities.

I said the router works fine, as well as ease of installation, which are in addition to its good looks...

If you don't like it, don't buy it...Simple as that...

I am apprehensive about internal antennas, which never work as well in my experience.

Wireless is a high priority of mine when I buy a router, but the device itself is usually somewhat hidden...

I agree it looks cool, but I don't really need a router for display purposes

Yea, looking nice is great, but how does it function? Does it do well under heavy P2P traffic??

I don't know if you guys hate the Linksys brand or if you're just looking for reasons to knock this product, but for crying out loud...

It's as if you're saying that because the product has good aesthetics, then it sucks...You guys don't make any damn sense...

But like I said, if you don't want it, don't buy it...But stop hating on my thread...Start your own thread...

There are people on these forums who want the best of both worlds...Like I said for the last time, the router works fine...

So, what did you actually expect...?

Praise for your phenomenal taste...?

Yeah, it does look good. But nobody knows how it performs.

I can personally attest that my X-550 has been working flawlessly since November 2006, and Newegg reviews confirm that.

Nobody knows anything about your pretty toy, because it's new.

Come back here when you've used it for a year, not now just to tell us that it's pretty ;)

djnsmith7 do not take it personally since it is nothing to do with you.

I think that one of the reasons that it looks good is because the Antenna eis not outside.
This is usually a negative feature for Wireless since it reduces the Flexibly of easy positioning for max, signal. It also does not allow replacement of the Antennae with a better or directional one in case such a change is needed.

The above issue would not matter if the Wireless is used with a Laptop that in the same room with the Wireless Router, but then, for a laptop in the same room a $30 Wireless Router would do well too.

If you don't want people's opinions then don't start a discussion. You shouldn't need others' validation to feel good about your purchase, if you like it then that is enough.

I don't need anyone's opinion to feel good about anything...I was sharing information...

First off, I never said it was pretty...But whatever...Secondly, I was just sharing easy the damn thing was to set up & that it's working fine...If you're in the market for a new router, give it a look...If you don't like the internal antena, don't buy it...If you don't like the way it looks, don't buy it...If it's too damn expensive, don't buy it...WTF...

I seriously don't know why you guys are giving me so much shit over this product, but whatever...I never said you had to buy it...I said to give it a look...But as the majority of you have noted, you won't be looking at it...Ok, no sweat off my back...I don't work for the company, so buy what works for you...

I don't need anyone to praise this damn router or anything else for that matter...I'm happy with my purchase & that's all that matters...Whatever happened to sharing information on these forums?...This place sure doesn't seem to be what it used to be...Now people here are looking & digging for reasons to start shit with people...

Sorry but this is another typical misconception.

I like Linksys and the WRT54GL is a great Router (I actually have few of them), and the WEG54G is a great product too.

However that does Not mean that every device that Linksys sells is great.

Honestly, at this point, I'm beginning to wonder why I even bothered wasting my time...Because apparently, even though you guys don't know anything about the product, you think it sucks...

So much for sharing my experience with a product on this forum...This thread is a prime example of getting people not to do that...

The only real negative complaint towards the router so far has been lack of external antennae, and you have yet to comment on the wireless capabilities yourself... so I would think this type of response is to be expected

djnsmith7, take it easy, technical issue are technical, it is nothing to do with you as a person.

Wireless Routers are "touchy" objects.

Their data sheets might give a reason why not to buy them, otherwise they all look the same, and do not contain information about actual performance.

As an example, almost all Data sheet of Wireless Router would state a range of hundreds of feets indoor and over 1000 feet outdoor.

None of the Entry Level Wireless Router can perform this way so the question is what is the real distance that a specific model can support.

All Data Sheet of Giga capable Routers states 1000Mb/sec.

In reality none can provide performance that is close to these numbers.

Some 1000Mb/sec. Routers/switch would provide functional transfer as low as 200Mb/sec. the best would do more but usually below 500Mb/sec..

In other words, unless we get feedback from actual users, or countable reviewers (Like AnandTech) it is better not to touch a new Wireless device.

BTW, I downloaded and looked at the data sheet, it does not even bother to give most of the information that is needed to start evaluating the device.

The Data sheet states.

Quote from the Data Sheet.

The Wireless-N Gigabit Router is really three devices in one box. First, there?s the Wireless
Access Point, which lets you connect to the network without wires. There?s also a built-in
4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch to connect your wired-Ethernet devices together. Finally,
the Router function ties it all together and lets your whole network share a high-speed
Cable or DSL Internet connection.

End of Quote.

So it is a Gigabit Router with 4-port full-duplex 10/100 Switch. Duh!

It is probably a typo, but it exemplifies how inaccurate Data sheets are.

I am just wondering here, why are you telling him to try it out? you are the one that has the router.

Also, why are you getting so offended? Jeez. You are the one who created the thread and people are giving their opinions.
