My friend is looking to spend around 800 dollars to purchase a gaming PC so he can play the modern games at decent quality. He has a mouse and keyboard but he needs to get a monitor too. So you guys can just list off a build that you think is good for his needs! Thanks

This forum is full of similarly spec'd systems.
I'd suggest reading through 5 or 6 of them to come to a conclusion of what components might be a good fit for your pals PC.

$800 with keyboard and OS is something like $550 for the PC itself.

I'd start with Ken's i3 build from the low-end builders guide. That's $497 w/ OS. Then make the following changes:

- Swap the GPU to the MSI R9 280 for +$50 AR AP
- Swap RAM to an 8GB kit like this Patriot DDR3 1600 8GB kit for +$36 AR
- Swap PSU to the Corsair CX600 for +$29 AR
- Add the LG 24MP55HQ-P for $140 AP

That puts you at $752 AR AP. With the extra $50, you can almost get an SSD like the Sandisk Ultra Plus 128GB for $65.

If looking at builds in this price range I suggest an AMD FX6300, overlocked, over an i3. Get the Gigabyte GA970AUD3P board with the FX. JM2C.

Is that all he needs for the build or is there any extra things that are not listed?

There's no optical drive in the budget build, so he'll need a spare 8GB USB thumb drive and access to another PC to create the installation "media".

I'm in Canada, how would I order these?

You should include such information in your post rather than assuming people will know where you're from. In fact, you should probably answer all of these questions when asking about a build.

$800 CAD does not go as far as $800 USD, so you might have to scale back a bit.

Core i3 4150 $121
ASRock H97M Anniversary $65 AR
Team DDR3 1600 8GB $80
PowerColor R9 270 2GB $165
WD Blue 1TB $58
Corsair CX430 $40
Deepcool Tesseract $35
LG IPS224V-PN $130
Windows 8.1 $106
Total: $800 AR
