Hey everybody...I'm building a new comp and I'm new to the whole process of what parts are best and what not. I have made a list of some parts at this point but I'm not quite sure whether or not they are the best, compatible or not, and so forth. Also some suggestions of parts would be useful too. I'm not looking to spend more that $1500 including monitor. Heres what i have so far:

Motherboard- Gigabyte GA-K8NPRO here has anyone used this board? i don't really need the raid setup, but i don't know if they make a non-raid version

Processor - AMD Athlon 64 (havent found specific one yet...suggestions would be appreciated)

Memory- Corsair TWINX512-2700LLPT 512MB DDR333 here ( i realize the ram is DDR333 and the mobo is 400...will probably change type of ram)

Video Card- BFG nVidia GeForce 6800 (Overclocked) 128MB DDR here

Audio Card - SB Audigy 2 ZA (wherever it's cheapest. although i don't have 7.1 speakers now, just logitech 5.1 z640)

Obviously I'm not done compiling the parts. I havent figured out what type and size hard drive to get yet (once again...suggestions helpful; i was thinking 200G barracuda maybe). Just looking for some feedback on these current parts and what I might want to do for the rest of my rig. Thanks a lot for your help.

If you are going Socket 754, might I recommend the DFI Lanparty UT 250gb?

It's widely regarded as the fastest A64 mobo for S754.

As for the ram, you don't need Corsair XMS. Just pick up 1gb of Corsair Value Ram at Newegg for about $20 cheaper, and it'll serve you much better.

If you want a good motherboard without all the extra features like raid and gigabit ethernet I suggest you fo for the Chaintech vnf3-250 mobo. For $70 at most places it is a very good motherboard. I have had it for 2 months running almost nonstop and have had no prbs yet.
