new rig, whataya think?

Shuttle nForce2 IGP mn31n
2@256MB pc3200 geil cl2
AMD Athlon XP 2500+ retail
InWin uATX case(very quiet case, but make sure and get a low profile heat sink, the retail Athlon heat sink is actually touching the cd-rom not putting any pressure on it, but touching none the less.)
Was gonna put a Speeze BigRock 2(26db) on it but it's now going on my speed demon to quiet that beast down.
XP pro.

Built this system for my wife's new job as a real estate agent for Virginia Cook. (I'm very proud of her) Of course it will be running seti until I switch to boinc though 🙂

Looks very nice. I assume that you are running the memory in DC mode, if they are the same part number it should work.
Have any WU times yet?

yes that's why I bought a matched pair, according to the book anything over 1 stick will automatically run dual channel. I'm still loading the OS, won't have seti times until later tonight. any bets on what it will do?

About DC DDR: I thought you had to have 1 stick in the furthest slot and another in one of the 2 closer slots? Anyway...I'll say 2:24 for a .417

Hmmm what does the .417 mean??? I know it's the angle but why would it take longer to complete? Can you specifiy angles? Sorry first time for me asking this question... Also, the lower the angle the faster you can complete?

looked again, it does say to have one in the farthest slot when using 2 or more for dual channel, I mis-read it the first time through.

Different WUs have different angle ranges, it is directly related to the time it takes to complete the WU. High AR WUs generaly take less time and low AR WUs normaly take longer. .417 is considered average.

Here is a graph I did last year that shows the effect the Angle Range has on WU times. The cluster you see on the left of the graph would be the WUs in the .417 range. I believe only one system that was running Win98 has a Low AR WUs, look for the yellow dot near the Zero (0) line. The graph was done to show the benefits of DDR memory and the "New" Athlon XP.
