New Rig, Now Old Game Runs Choppy?

I'm hoping someone can help me with this. I just built a new system:

P4 3.4 LGA 775
Asus P5AD2 Premium Mobo
Gigabyte Radeon x800xt
WD 74 gig Raptor HD
WD 200 gig SATA HD
Antec True Power 550 watt 24-pin ps

Anyhow, everything is running great, except for when I try to play Red Faction online. (The original Red Faction, which is a few years old) In the game, the other players all look very choppy as they move around. This does not happen with Unreal Tournament 2004, or for that matter with any other game except Red Faction, so it can't be anything to do with my net connection. Is the game just too old for my system? I've tried looking online but can't find a similar problem anywhere. I was running this game fine on my old system, which was a P4 2.53. Thanks!

Could be the server -- how does the game play offline / single player?

It plays normal offline. The problem is, some buddies of mine hook up and play twice a week on a passworded server, and I've seen this problem now twice, but no one else sees it. And, I also have my old computer networked up for my wife, and when she joined the game she couldn't see it either. It's only choppy for me. Should I try hosting the game?
