Hey guys I have an old pc with a 500g hard drive, dvd drive, 500w power supply and a sound card. It has stock cpu and gpu. I'm looking to upgrade it for under £350.

Here are the parts I am considering buying:

-Asus M5A78L-M LX Motherboard
-AMD Phenom II X4 960T black edition
-Sapphire AMD HD 6870
-Cooler Master Hyper TX3
-G-Skill 8GB Ripjaws X DDR3 1333

Would this be able to run Skyrim and Battlefield 3 at half decent settings? If anyone could give me some advice, it would be much apprciated :)

The Asus M5A78L-M LX is a AM3+ mother board with no option to crossfire. For your price range there isn't much of anything you can do right now. Maybe buy a cheap SSD to install video games too.

When the HD 7800 cards come out you can try selling your 6870 and put that towards a 7870 if the performance is there.

Don't bother upgrading your CPU until Piledriver chips come out. They should be out by the end of the year. And that's only if your motherboard supports them.
