Well I have completed my first ever build! It went fantastic. I haven't had a problem yet. I want to personally thank everyone who helped lead me in the right direction with hardware choices. Here are the specs:

ASUS A8N-SLI Premium
AMD Opteron 148 Venus @ 2.9GHz stable
Mushkin eXtreme Performance 1x1GB (another GB is coming soon)
eVGA 7800GT CO @ 520/1220MHz
Western Digital WD1600JB 160GB
Antec TX1050B
Antec SmartPower 500W
Benq DQ60

Closed case
Open case 1
Open case 2
Me and my handywork!
Wire management?
Video card
My overclocks

Yes, I'm a young one - 14 in Feb. :). And no, "daddy" didn't buy it for me. An entire summer of work and and the sale of all my paintball gear did (which was also bought by myself.)

So how's it look? I'm very happy with it. It's blazing fast and the demos for BF2 and FEAR I played look spectacular. The reason I have to play demos right now is because I don't have any money left for games so I had to ask for them for Christmas. The total cost was around $1200. How's my wire management job look? Any suggestions? Thanks again to everyone who helped me out!

This just in: 3DMark05 score is 8388.

Is that where my score should be for my system? Also, I don't know much about average oc's for video cards. How does 520MHz/1220MHz stack up for a 7800GT CO?

Cool! Thanks.

jc9970, I was looking at the pics in your sig, and Madden 06 on the 360 looks INCREDIBLE.

Right now I'm on a pretty bad mouse/keyboard setup. Recommendations for a good mouse under $40?

Okay...some things that I see.

In your video card picture...the PCI card that is reflected in it is not seated completely. You shouldn't be able to see any gold contacts.

Also...it's kinda messy in there. I suggest zip ties to round up all those cables and make everything nice and neat.

Here's a picture from an article I did of one thing I do in particular on my systems - I coil up wires around a small screwdriver to make them "shorter" per se. I also do this with SATA cables and make them coiled.

On those Antec cases I usually zip tie a bunch of stuff to the metal crossbar that goes acrossed the case. I push wires into the inside and tie them up there and other places to keep it looking really clean. Even if you don't have a windowed case it will help to improve airflow.

I'll check out the card, but it's been working fine.

Yes, I was planning on using zip ties to clean everything up.

Awesome. I've used this mouse before and loved it, but I couldn't remember it's name. I'm definetly gonna pick one of these up.

Mount your hard drive in the lower bay, in front of the intake fan. It'll keep it cooler.

Previous post - zip ties are your friend, and that crossbar that spans from the PSU is a great idea for mounting.

Other than that, looks good, nice job!

Yup, that's what I am gonna do. But for now it has to stay as it is because I sorta misplaced the HDD cage :)

Check your pm's.

To OdiN:
I checked the PCI card and it appears to be seated correctly. I pushed harder than I'm comfortable with and it wouldn't go any farther so I think it's fine. It's been working fine at least.

The I/O cover in the back probably is not down in the slot. The tapered end should fit into a slot in the case and allow the card to seat down fully. It happens with those Antecs - I work with them a lot.

Hmm. I'll check that out. But not right now, cause it's pain and the card is working fine and has been for 4 days.

I'm not a big audio person, so do you think that the Creative Audigy2 Value Sound Card and Logitech X-530's will suffice?

Thanks man. Yeah, I love this TX1050B. It's huge and has superb airflow and plenty of room to work in.

Lol, that's cool that we have similar systems and ages but the "Pics of me and my handywork" thing is a bit creepy. Great minds think alike I suppose? :)
