Congrats man!

I just turned 14, and I just finished a rig too. My dad wanted a computer, so instead of buying a dell for himself, I convinced him to let me build it.

Opteron 144 @ 2.8GHz, 1.525V (312MHz FSB) with Zalman CNPS7000-Cu
2GB Corsair VS @ 2-3-3-7 1T, 2.9V 200MHz
EPoX EP-9npa+Ultra with Zalman chipset cooler
Hitachi 250GB SATAII HDD
NEC 3550A DVD Burner
Geforce 6200TC (he doesn't game)
Antec Sonata Case w 380W PSU
Dell 2001FPW monitor.

Nice rig, nice OC, nice job, and kudos for working for something you want... makes it all that much more gratifying huh?

Most definetly. I was proud of myself because I'm not the type that saves money very well :)

Hey, what is a good temperature monitoring program? I'm using my mobo's ASUS PC Probe right now, but I want to verify my temperatures.

Does your monitor perform to your satisfaction? If so, then I wouldn't worry about it too much. I can find all sorts of little flaws in my Samsung LCD if I look hard enough, but it's still a great system, and it's all that I could afford, so I won't start doing the "what if I had purchased the Eizo instead..." thing.

BTW, I built my first system at a similar age, though it was a Cyrix 233MHz system with 32MB of RAM - that might date me.

Congrats on your build, and merry Christmas!

Yeah, this old monitor will be fine until I have the money for something a little nicer. Thanks and Merry Christmas :)

Well, I got FEAR as a Christmas gift and it plays fantastic. What is a program for monitoring FPS? The only one I've heard of is Fraps or something?

Question:

I saw you have RivaTuner on your computer. Does it work with the 7800GT? I have the CO version, haven't tested it since family is here. Fan is LOUD! thanks.

Yes, it works with the 7800GT CO. However, I would recomend downloading CoolBits 2.0 from guru3d and using it instead. It just adds a little clock frequency tab to the Amtrans Analog Display thing on the Nvidia settings icon in your system tray that let's you overclock, and I liked it better than Rivatuner.

Wire management?
Video card
My overclocks

Yes, I'm a young one - 14 in Feb. :). And no, "daddy" didn't buy it for me. An entire summer of work and and the sale of all my paintball gear did (which was also bought by myself.)

So how's it look? I'm very happy with it. It's blazing fast and the demos for BF2 and FEAR I played look spectacular. The reason I have to play demos right now is because I don't have any money left for games so I had to ask for them for Christmas. The total cost was around $1200. How's my wire management job look? Any suggestions? Thanks again to everyone who helped me out!

No seperate sound card? And Floppy Drive?

Sound card is coming, but I was in debt so I have no money. I have a NEC floppy drive, but I just didin't put it. I'm not sure why. Probably beceause I've never used it.
