New Rig, FPS Issue?

Hey there all,

So about two weeks ago I built myself a new Sandy Bridge Rig. i7 2600k, ASUS P8P67 Deluxe Mobo, 12GB Corsair dominator GT DDR3-2000 Memory, VisionTek HD Radeon 6970, Etc...

In multiple games:
-Batman: Arkham Asylum
-Starcraft II
-Homefront

I seem to not be able to get above 60FPS?

Is this normal? I feel that this video card should be getting higher frame rates no?

I just went into Homefront, VSync was off, I turned it on, at bumped me up to about 80FPS.

I still feel like it should be higher...

Do you maybe have Vsync forced on in the driver? Exactly 60FPS is a "suspicious" number because it matches most monitors refresh rate.

As a side note, I always play with Vsync on because I can't tell a difference above 60 and I hate tearing.

Indeed. I don't see the point of drawing faster than refresh. It looks like crap and screws with your positioning, especially if you're redrawing way over refresh. 500FPS gives you a waterfall effect that is just terrible -- you have no idea where your mouse is in that.
