ahh I got some ram that is comparable to the ram I have now, though it is the same speed and amount, a generic manufacturer, anyways, Im planning to pawn them, but, what causes dual... dual channelling not to work? why can't my computer read 2 sets of dual channelled ram?
 
well it would depend a lot on what motherboard you are using, and what slots you put the ram in, and what not, but you kinda left out all that important info...
 
Dual dualed channel ram? Are you asking if you can use 4 sticks or ram in dual channel mode? If you have a dual channel mobo with 4 slots, yes, 4 sticks of ram can be run in dual channel mode. As long as you have pairs, they don't all have to be the same brand. I am running 2 sticks of crucial, and 2 sticks of kingmax in dual channel mode. On my Gigabyte motherboard that has 6 ram slots, I can run 6 sticks in dual channel mode.
 
I don't understand your question.

Dual channel is generally not going to work if the two DIMMS have different manufacturers, sizes, or speeds.

Do you mean dual DDR (double data rate) ram? If you do, then you are incorrect, ddr ram runs in dual channel mode if the mobo supports it.

Dual channel is NOT dependent on the ram, it only requires a motherboard that supports dual channel.
 
Since you stymied on the most important info regarding your question. I will surmise you meant using two sticks in Dual Channel Mode. Which means you are asking if you can use two sticks of mem of different manufacturer; since you mentioned that one is generic while the other one is branded but all charateristics are the same; in Dual Channel Mode. Now for others, there is Dual Data Rate (DDR) and Dual Channel Mode (DCM, which involves two mem slots splitting data simultaneaously). The answer to your question is YES! Depending on your mobo. Check your mobo manual for proper placement of the ram sticks to run them in DCM.
 
Ahh, well I stymied on the most improtant information because I didn't really want to know about it, I am talking about 4 x 'x' 4 ram modules, with each of the 2 sets running in dual channel mod, so pretty much DUAL, DUAL channelled or QUADRO Ram.. more about why it isn't possible right now.. I know about everything you already talked about.. its more of a query.. I dont plan on changing my system I just want to know why you cant.. 'assuming you can't' have 2 sets of dual channelled ram, or 4 sticks channelled altogether, understand now? sorry for the lack of clairity
 
Sis was working on a chipset that would use quad channel RDRAM, which would have been what I think you might be asking about, although it is highly unlikely to make it to market as all of their other RDRAM chipsets were complete failures.
