New Radeon problem??

oK I just installed my second All In Wonder Radeon, the first was an 8500DV and this one is a 9000, same problem with both cards, I get no video at all on boot, no POST or anything visible on the monitor, it isn't a Windows issue as Windows isn't even loading, or if it is I can's see it. I feel like there may be an issue with the DVI-to-VGA adapter and my monitor, it is an NEC Multisync 77F, the computer is running an Epox 8RDA+ motherboard with nothing out of the ordinary. I have the latest BIOS updates and all the BIOS settings seem normal, any ideas? This one is driving me crazy.

I have an 8500DV with the DVI to VGA adapter on an ASUS mobo, and no problems. Sounds like you'll have to do some more troubleshooting, to narrow it down. So far, you've tried two vid cards on one mobo, using the same DVI to VGA adapter and same monitor on both tries. So, now you need to try a different monitor, mobo or DVI to VGA adapter, and see if you can narrow it down further. Also, I would always suggest reseating all RAM, AGP and PCI cards, cables, etc.

Do you normally get a beep code (single beep) when the machine normally boots, say with a working video card? Does the fan power up, etc?

Where I'm going with this:

If you do get a beep on boot, fan powers up, HD spins, etc....the machine may be booting, but don't some BIOS settings control whether AGP or PCI video is initialized first? I'd ensure that AGP is set to default.

Also, sometimes there are BIOS settings whether to asssign an IRQ to the video adapter...play with that with a working card, then power down, plug the new card, power up in and pray for video

Final question: Does the card work in any other PC's? That would help narrow down whether it's the card, or your machine being the root cause of the problem.

I'm not in front of that machine right and to be honest I don't remember about the boot process on that particular machine, but the fans lights and everyhting power up, even the fan on the video card.

I'd ensure that AGP is set to default.

This hasn't changed from when I removed the Geforce which was an AGP card also.

This sounds like an idea, will try this evening.

Haven't tried it, but I wouldn' think that 2 cards would be DOA, I maybe wrong though.

I recently had a similar problem with three different computers, running three different motherboard/video cards. At first I thought it was a video card problem, but after switching cards and then motherboards with still no change, I determined the problem was my power supply power cable. I change the power supply cable and all three PC's work fine at this location.

Just a thought.

Will do so tonight, hope it works. Why do you suggest this or rather have you seen this issue before?.

OK unplugging the front USB ports didn't help, I have changed every BIOS setting I know of, any other suggestions, Epox and ATI support was of no help.

OK I got it, I removed my Winfast TV card and now the All In Wonder works fine. I had to completely remove it too I tried another PCI slot and still no video, apparanetly there is just some type conflict with 2 tuner cards, I wanted to keep the Leadtek card for the FM tuner part but oh well, guess not.
